From the Principal's Office
I am always in awe about how quickly time flies around here. It seems as though we just returned from our winter break a few days ago, and now are are at the top of a brand new month!
January was filled with quick pivots and sharp turns due to quarantines, isolations, and other COVID related things. I understand how difficult it has been to keep up with all of the CDC and SFDPH requirements, and I also appreciate your patience, grace, and cooperation.
Everyone is doing their part to keep our entire community safe. Thank you, again.
Warmly,
Principal Manning

Literacy Assessment Window 2 (Now Open)
1) Your child's educator designed an Individual Learning Plan that was shared with you including goals and ways families could support learning at home (home activities and daily school attendance).
2) Our teachers have been coached on how to tailor their instruction to meet the needs of all students, as well as align their teaching to the goals that we set in the Fall.
3) It is time to gather new information on our scholars, and study the data to ensure that we are on track to meeting our goals.
Please see the assessment dates below. You can support our school goals by making sure that your child is in attendance and on time every day. Also, please remind your child that their best efforts matter. You can share their goal sheet with your scholar and encourage them to step up to the challenge during the assessment period.
Kindergarten: February 8 and 15, 2022
1st Grade: February 10, 2022
2nd Grade: February 17, 2022
3rd-5th Grades: February 22-25, 2022 (students will take a computerized reading assessment one day during this window).
Behavior Expectations
This document describes how students can Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible throughout our building (in class, in the hall, on the recess yard, and in the cafeteria).
Please read through the document with your child. After, please sign the acknowledgement portion and return it to your child's teacher the following day.
In younger grades (K-2), you can ask students to draw pictures of write about how each of the expectations could look (ex: draw a picture of students be ing respectful during recess, or draw a picture of students being safe in the stairwell.)
In the older grades (3-5), you can ask students to become the teacher and ask how they would teach the expectations to other students. How should students be rewarded who follow the expectations? What are fair consequences for students who do not meet the expectations? (This is an EXCELLENT way to engage older students in academic conversation, and practice logic and reasoning skills).
Peaceful Warriors!
On that day, students will rotate through various activities that focus on body calming, mindfulness, conflict resolution, and managing big emotions.
After the workshop on the 25th, our scholars will participate in a 7 week virtual program (during the school day) that focuses on themes such as heartfulness, gratitude, breathing, emotions, etc.
We are excited to participate, and grateful to our Golden State Warriors for reaching out and including us!
