Hello Pyle Families,

This week we have had a great time celebrating reading! We have had the privilege to have many special guest readers this week to share the love of reading with our students. Thank you to all parents who joined us at our Read, Run, Relay today. The students were so excited to see you and hear you cheer them on.

We are having a spring 5 days of STEAM after-school class for grades 4 & 6. Please register your student for this hands-on learning experience before March 12 to be included. The link has been sent to all grade 4 & 6 families or you can email EPprincipal@busd.k12.ca.us to request the link for registration.

This week one of our students was honored for winning the Every Student Succeeds Award. Aria Wilson is a second-grade student who has overcome adversity and shown the world that struggles won't slow her down. Aria saved her baby brother from being hit by a car without any concern for her own safety. Because of her selfless heroic actions, she has undergone surgeries, wheelchairs, and walkers and has shown us all how strong she can be. This compassionate young lady was nominated for and won recognition for the Every Student Succeeds Award through Region 14 ACSA. We are so proud of her for her positive attitude and hard work to keep persevering through an incredibly challenging ordeal.

Our 6th-grade camp has been postponed. Our sixth-grade teachers already have wonderful learning opportunities for our students to take part in next week at Ernie Pyle. We have been informed by Thousand Pines that due to recent snow storms and the storm aftermath, including closures of highway routes into the community, and the States of Emergency as declared by San Bernardino County and by the State of California, our students will unfortunately not be able to attend Science Camp next week. We are continuing to work in partnership with Thousand Pines to find another week in the coming months when students may attend camp and will provide an update to our 6th-grade families once we receive more information.

Latino Family Literacy Project - Parent Workshop Classes

We have an amazing opportunity for families. Mrs. Kim Ashton will be leading parents through a ten-week series of literacy parent workshops. Open enrollment for Kindergarten and TK is now open and will continue until the last day of school and will reopen in August when the school sites return from the summer break. A link for the TK application and enrollment for 2023-24 is available on the District website for parents/guardians.

All students have access in their Clever accounts to a program called Paper Tutoring. This program is for students in grades TK through 12 and it is completely free on-demand tutoring assistance. Please remind your students that this is available to them should they want or need any help on any assignments.
