2-Hour Delayed Opening on Tuesday, 2/21
PGCPS schools have scheduled a 2-hour delayed opening on Tuesday, February 21st. CMIT North MS will open its doors to students at 10:00 am.
The delayed opening is to provide some time for educators to conduct team conferences with parents. These conferences are by invitation only.
Although this time is scheduled by the district, conferences can be held throughout the school year at the request of the teacher or the parent.
Introducing Ms. P!
We are excited to introduce the newest member of the CMIT team, Ms. Petit-Homme (Ms. P.). Ms. P began with CMIT North MS on Monday, February 13th as our new Front Office Receptionist. She will be the primary point of contact for all general questions and needs.
Welcome Ms. P!
Hello, my name is Monica Petit-Homme ( which means little man in French) but you can call me Ms. P. for short. Thrilled and delighted to join the CMIT family. I worked at National Collegiate Preparatory Public Charter High School located in Washington, DC for 6 years as the Academic Counseling Assistant. I look forward to being a significant piece of the puzzle, guiding our students to be productive citizens. Thanks for making me feel at home during my first week.
Educationally- Ms. P.
Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Device Policy
Electronic devices, such as cell phones, have become a huge distraction to students' education. They divert their focus from learning, disrupt class, and pull the educator's focus away from instruction. In order to provide the best learning environment possible CMIT has the following Personal Electronic Device Policy in place.
During the regular school day, personal electronic devices (PEDs) must be turned off and placed in lockers. This includes bluetooth accessories, such as Air Pods.
Administrators, faculty, and staff may confiscate seen PEDs from students.
1st Offense - Cell Phone will be confiscated and given back at the end of the school day
2nd Offense - Cell Phone will be confiscated and need to be picked up by a parent/guardian
3rd offense - Student will receive Saturday detention and the cellphone will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian. An Administrative Referral for Insubordination will be placed in the student record.
If the need arises to contact your scholar during the school day, please call the Front Office at 301-350-6051. We will ensure that your scholar receives the message.

Upcoming Events
Aid for the Ukrainian Landmine Victims
For a portion of this summer, I will be acting as a US volunteer for Mission Kharkiv, a Ukrainian organization in support of the civilian citizens of Ukraine who have been affected by the invasion of Russia. As you may have seen in the news, much of the infrastructure in Ukraine has been damaged or destroyed. As a result, many civilian citizens are suffering greatly from a lack of resources and services. A main source of the suffering is injured civilians who lack access to medical supplies and services. Many of those injured have been hurt by landmines and booby traps placed by Russian combatants. We, as an organization, are looking for any and all donations to supply supplies and services for those civilians injured.
Below is the list of items we are trying to gather for the 100 kits needed to support emergency medical personnel responding to landmine victims.
I will be there training newly recruited medical responders on how to use the kits to aid injured civilians. If you are able to donate any of these materials it would be life-changing to those who need aid in this terrible time. I will maintain a box in my office for donated items from the list below. Please give if you can. Thanks.
