We are trying to minimize the disruption and distraction to the school environment on Monday, October 31. Please help us in communicating to your child that costumes should not be worn to school. Also, face/body paint should not be worn or brought to school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Our very first Panther Prowl was a great success! A special thank you to the MTSS team and the committee organizer, Ms. Coons, for their outstanding efforts in making this event a success. We appreciate the community support and all of the runners and walkers who came out last Saturday. Also, we would like to thank the PTSO for their donations of water, snacks, and door prizes! We couldn't do everything we do without their support!

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the Halloween Door Decorating Contest. Each winning homeroom will receive donuts during homeroom on Monday 10/31!

Sneak Peak of fun things coming in November:

- PTSO Meeting 11/9 at 3pm in the media center. We welcome all members to attend.

Attendance letters are being generated and sent out to families of students with absences that have not been recorded as excused. We most certainly understand that many students have been out sick with a variety of illnesses. We simply are asking families to help us correct the attendance by indicating the reason for the absences. There is a place next to the date of each absence for parents/guardians to indicate the reason. Simply complete the form on the back of the letter and return it to school. Future absences can also be recorded by using the "Report a Student Absence" button on the right-hand corner of the MBMS webpage.

Our schools are heavily impacted with federally-connected students – those parents/guardians who work on federal property in Maryland, live on federal property in Maryland, and/or are active duty military personnel. Because of this impact, we receive federal grant funds to operate and maintain our schools and enrich school programs. To receive these funds, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) requires us to survey each student to determine eligibility.

SMCPS is encouraging all parents/guardians to please take the time to access and complete the Impact Aid Survey Form online, located in the Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started. The deadline for the online submission of Impact Aid Program Survey forms is November 14, 2022.

School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) are a partnership between St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) and St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS). The centers assist families with meeting the healthcare needs of students to include treatment of acute illness, management of chronic conditions, health education and promotion. We have the capabilities to send messages and updates to parents via text. You can opt-in, and you have the option of declining or stop notifications at any time.
