Financial Aid Information
FAFSA/CADAA
Attention 12th Grade Parents/Guardians and Students
AB469 requires that Districts must ensure that all 12th grade students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) unless the parent or student over the age of 18 or emancipated has completed the opt out form. If you choose not to complete the FAFSA/CADAA, please submit an opt out form.
What is the FAFSA?
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It’s how U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens get money for college, including:
- Federal financial aid, like grants, work-study, or loans.
- State financial aid, like the Cal Grant.
- Some school-based financial aid, like scholarships or grants given out by colleges.
Fill out the FAFSA even if you’re not sure you’ll get financial aid. Each year, almost 90,000 California students miss out on major grant money because they choose not to fill out the FAFSA--don’t be one of them!
Attending a Community College? Rgardless of the institution you're planning to attend, submit the FAFSA/CADAA. It opens up other aids such as scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs to not only help pay for tuition, but also for lodging, meals, books, and transportation.
Not eligible for the FAFSA? Undocumented students can apply for state financial aid with the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
