A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
This week flew by as a short one! Although it was short, we had a big announcement this week, where we named our 22-23 Exemplar Educator of the Year and our Employee of the Year! Lindsay Wickersham, our office manager, was named the Employee of the Year. Mrs. Wickersham takes care of our students, families, and our entire staff. She truly makes our school run each day! Lindsay Trinkle was named our Exemplar Educator of the Year! Mrs. Trinkle has a gift for building strong relationships with her students and their families. She goes above and beyond for her students every day, and has supported Schluter and NISD through multiple leadership roles. We are so grateful for the work these ladies do every day to make Schluter amazing!
We have many exciting events coming up as well as activities for our students to participate in! There are many things for our families and students alike! Check out the graphics below to see everything that is coming up next week and soon after.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE
Schluter Elementary has kicked off American Heart Association’s KIDS HEART CHALLENGE by the students watching THIS KHC VIDEO to meet this year’s Heart Heroes and bring home information about KHC. Our campus goal is to raise $8,000 in donations to fight heart diseases and stroke and have 100% of families learn hands-only CPR.
Bonus Fun!
Any student that raises $150 gets to SLIME Mrs. Withers and Mr. Arnold!!
Also, students who are registered by Monday will be entered into a drawing with students across the country for a Large Squishmallow or a $50 Amazon Gift Certificate!
Your students can earn this year’s heart heroes (see below) by registering using this KHC Registration Link or downloading the Kids Heart Challenge app! Your family can learn hands only CPR by starting Finn’s Mission after your register!

School times changing in 2023-2024, slight calendar tweaks
Boundary changes proposed for 2023-2024
As Northwest ISD continues to rapidly grow and open new schools, the district must balance enrollments at campuses to provide safe and effective learning environments. With three brand-new campuses opening in 2023 and several campuses at or over capacity, Northwest ISD has begun the rezoning process at all campus levels. To view the proposals and ways to provide your feedback, visit www.nisdtx.org/rezoning.
Request support from student-led Big Event by February 24
This year’s Big Event takes place Saturday, April 1, and community members can fill out a job request form by February 24. Students are willing to help with jobs around the house, weeding, mowing, painting, gardening, tree-trimming and general clean-outs!

Free or reduced-priced meals now require 2022-2023 application
For students who meet federal requirements, school meals may be provided free or at a reduced cost. To receive this benefit, a student's parent or guardian must fill out the free or reduced-cost meal application and be granted admission into the program. While students in the program receive the same benefits briefly at the start of the following school year, the application must be completed annually to continue receiving the program's benefits. For any student who received benefits from the free or reduced-priced meal program in 2021-2022 but has not yet applied and been granted its benefits for the current school year, regular costs are now in effect.
In order for benefits to continue, an application must be completed and returned and free or reduced-price meals will continue to be provided, if the student qualifies. The application can be completed at this link. Paper applications are also available at all Northwest ISD campuses. Please direct any questions to Yen Brown, free and reduced specialist, at 817-698-1091.
