A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
We will be celebrating school and classroom Fall Festivities on Friday, October 27th. Your child’s teacher will be providing you with classroom Fall Festivities information the week of October 9th. If you are donating a treat for classroom festivities, all treat donations must be store bought. Individually wrapped items such as individual bags of pretzels or Rice Krispie treats are preferred.
Our Fall Festivities coincide with Red Ribbon Spirit Week. On Friday, October 27th, our theme is “Say BOO to Drugs!” Students may wear a costume to school to participate in “Say BOO to Drugs!” Spirit Day. Students can wear their costumes to school in the morning and enjoy wearing them all day! Because students will be wearing costumes all day, be mindful of costumes and bathroom usage. Please be sure costumes are school appropriate (no gore, weapons, or complete face coverings) If your child plans to wear any face paint it must be applied at home before the start of school.
We will be having a “Say BOO to Drugs!” costume parade at school. Students from Kindergarten-5th Grade will be showing off their costumes during a parade. Be sure that your student wears comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing because, weather permitting, the parade will be outside. If it rains, the parade will not be held. The parade will start at 2:00 PM. Parents are welcome to come and watch the parade that will take place on the back playground. We ask that parents do not enter the building for parties unless they are a designated homeroom parent. If you plan on picking your student up from school immediately following the parade, an early dismissal note must be submitted to the main office the morning of October 27th .
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. If you wish that your student does not participate in school and classroom Fall Festivities on October 27th, please contact your child’s teacher and an alternative activity will be provided.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer, Principal
Mr. Kuciapinski, Assistant Principal
Rainbow Camp Read-A-Lot Event Held to Promote Reading and Writing
Rainbow Elementary School hosted Rainbow Camp Read-A-Lot, on Thursday, September 28th. The event was attended by 100 students and parents.
The goal of the evening was to build community through fostering a love of reading and writing through literacy centered activities. Students and families received free camping themed books, bookmarks, and a S’mores Kit. They read under the stars and had photo opportunities. Students made Smores puppets, and authored and illustrated a personal narrative camping book. The highlight was listening to Pete the Cat Goes Camping by James Dean, read aloud by Rainbow’s principal, Mrs. Stauffer! There was even a surprise visit from the Rainbow Wildcat.
This was a fun, creative and interactive evening with families and literature! “It was a great night for the community full of fun and learning,” said Jeff Kuciapinski, Rainbow Elementary School Assistant Principal. Thank you to our AMAZING readings specialists Dr. Bisazza and Mrs. DeLorenzo and our AWESOME teachers and families for making the night a success.

Message from the School Nurse
When to keep your child home from school
As we head into cooler months, we are starting to see more sickness -flu, colds, sore throats, and coughs. Sometimes it’s difficult to decide whether to keep your child at home. Here are some general guidelines to follow to help keep our staff and students healthy!
Per the school policy, please keep your child at home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:
- fever (temperature 99.8 or higher), chills
- persistent cough
- unusual skin rash
- abdominal pain
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- sore throat
- congestion/ runny nose (not associated with seasonal allergies)
- pink, crusty eyes
Children should remain at home at least 24 hours without fever or vomiting/diarrhea following an illness.
