Lost and found clothes
PLEASE label your kids' clothes and uniforms. We know these are tough times, and the last thing you want is to have to buy another winter coat or hoodie. Every week we haul a large amount of clothes left behind around our building. Thank you!
Report Cards
Report cards WILL NOT be mailed home anymore. They will be available on ParentVUE only unless you specifically request a paper copy. If you haven't downloaded ParentVUE yet, please do so. Laptop chargers
Students receive from the district 1 laptop and 1 charger when they become TPS students. Please make sure your student charges their laptop all night on a flat surface and is ready to go in the morning. Students do a lot of work on their computers so it's essential that they're charged for the day. Occasionally, teachers may allow students to charge them in class, but the expectation is that the computer comes charged from home. If your student loses the charger, remember there is a $30 charge to replace it. It's $10 if you have filled out the Household Survey and qualify for a discount. Remember that laptops and chargers are the property of TPS and need to be returned in the same condition when students leave the district.

Internet
We've seen a higher need among our families for affordable internet at home. Unfortunately, the school can't provide internet at home nor has the funding to help you obtain it. However, here are some programs from the city of Tacoma that you can check out:

"Walking bus"
At our "back-to-school" night many of you showed an interest in participating on a program called "walking bus" in partnership with the city of Tacoma. Baker's social worker, Mr. Kyle Moor, will be leading the efforts in bringing this program at Baker.
Who is eligible to participate?
Any student that lives within a mile of Baker that is currently NOT eligible for bus transportation. We especially hope for those students that currently come late, or need to catch a ride with others, or have a difficulty getting here to please join us!
How does it work?
Every group will have 1-2 "route leaders" that will map the safest and fastest route to get to school and you'll be assigned a spot along that route to join the walking bus.
Interested to be a route leader?
Route leaders get paid $16 a trip per day and need to pass a background check. We're looking for dependable, trustworthy adults that will commit to their route with minimal need for subs throughout the year. We would also like to hear from parents willing to fill in from time to time.
Email Mr. Moor if you're interested in this position at kmoor@Tacoma.K12.Wa.US.
What paperwork is needed?
Whether you'd like your child to participate, or you would like to become a route leader, you will be filling out this form below. Print, complete and return to the school or ask for one to be sent with your child.
