Winship Families
Spring Conferences were incredible! On behalf of our entire team, thank you for joining us and connecting with us about your child's education. Again, our family attendance rate was through the roof. We admire how our teachers and our parents celebrate all of the wonderful things our students are doing AND find new solutions to issues they may be facing. We are very proud of our students and our families. Thank you!
The amount of sunlight continues to increase each day! You likely notice that the long winter is especially difficult and impacts the mental health of many of our students and families. Many of us may become more irritable, may tire more easily or may experience an increase in moodiness. Throughout the year, and especially during the long (and sometimes dark) winter months, please take care of yourself and our wonderful students by maintaining or developing healthy life practices. Surround yourself with positive family and friends. Take care of your mental health and ask for help if or when needed. Take care of your physical health and get outside as often as possible. Or help others, doing kind or unexpected/random acts of kindness. We appreciate our families and our wonderful students and are excited for the temperatures to warm and to find the light at the end of our winter tunnel. If you or a family member needs support, please call us or visit our school's Mental Health Hub to get more information about taking care of your mental health and your overall well-being! The link to our Mental Health Hub can be found HERE.
We had a very generous and exciting GIVING HEARTS DAY on February 9th. Our school chose to support the Grand Forks Foundation for Education through our "Sucker Sales". The funds we raised supported the Access for All Scholarship, which provides mental health counseling services for Grand Forks Public Schools students and their families, regardless of their ability to pay. Thank you for donating on February 9th. Our students and staff generously gave over $780 within the 24 hours of Giving Hearts Day!
As always, if you have any questions, concerns or celebrations, please reach out to your child's teacher or our school office. Thanks again for all you do!

Open Communication
Talking openly and honestly with your kids is one of the most effective ways to support their
behavioral health. Whether it’s everyday topics like friends and school, or more serious topics like substance use, anxiety, or depression, it’s never too early to start the conversation. As your kids grow, your conversations may change, but they will always be centered on keeping them happy, healthy, and safe. Keep your conversations relaxed, friendly, non-judgmental, and genuine. And most importantly, be a good listener. What should I say? Visit www.parentslead.org for more information.
