Please join us for the Magnet Family Picnic on Thursday, April 21st at Pine Log Park from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. You are welcome to bring your own food or have a Magnet Fund provided picnic style boxed meal. If you are interested in attending, please complete the survey regarding food options and number of attendees no later than Friday, April 15th at 12:00 for the event to help us plan accordingly.

April 19th, 2022, we are hosting TEDxYouth@RMSST, an event where TED Talk videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Auditions for the Magnet Variety Show will be on Thursday, April 21. We are looking for traditional acts like singing, dancing, playing instruments, and acting...but we're also open to non-traditional acts, such as comedy sketches or cool demonstrations. Show us your creativity! The Magnet Variety Show will be on Friday, May 6th, so mark your calendars to attend! Please vote for the new Magnet Fund Officers using this link by Wednesday, April 20th at midnight. Election results will be announced at Picnic on Thursday. Beyond officers, the Fund is always looking for help with the many committees. Please indicate on the last question of the survey if you are interested in leading a committee for next year.

Attention Dual Enrollment students for the 2022-2023 school year!

This is a reminder that if you will be new to Dual Enrollment then you must have applied to the college and turned in all required documents by May 1 to participate in Dual Enrollment. ALL Dual Enrollment students for the 2022-2023 school year must complete the Dual Enrollment Funding Application for 2022-2023 on www.gafutures.org. Availability in Dual Enrollment classes may be limited and students must meet the deadlines to be registered.

Each year, we collect letters for the seniors to distribute at the End of the Year Celebrations. These are special letters from the student’s friends and family. We ask kindly that you take a moment to write a letter to any seniors that you know. It doesn’t need to be long; just something for them to take with them and cherish as they move forward in their life journey after high school. Anyone is welcome to submit. Please submit the letter in an unsealed envelope with the student’s first and last name on the outside. Letters can be mailed to Rockdale Magnet School c/o Mrs. Tiffany Jones 930 Rowland Road Conyers, Ga 30012, dropped off to the blue/yellow box in front office (or classrooms – Wisnewski, Hornbeck, Garner, Jones), or submitted electronically through a Microsoft Forms (http://tinyurl.com/RMSSTSeniorLetters) or emailed to tjones1@rockdale.k12.ga.us. Every year, RMSST's Camera Club designs the Memory Book to commemorate the activities and happenings that go on at Magnet. If you have any photos from Magnet clubs, events, etc. that you like to be considered for the memory book, please submit them to the Magnet Memory Book Form.

Every year, courses are offered online through Rockdale Virtual Campus (RVC) during the summer, giving students the opportunity to advance through the coursework. Below is the list of teacher/counselors/tutors available for the extended hours. Keep in mind that even if the subject you need is not listed, any of the adults can help you make a tutor.com appointment or give you general direction on making the most of your study time. Students can stay after school for ANY teacher's office hours, clubs, and/or teams and then report to the extended tutorial OR students can come directly to the cafetorium to work or get help. Students must be picked up by 6pm on extended tutorial days. This allows families a later window for transportation.

Reminder: Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) and Tutor.com, one of the world’s largest online tutoring services, have partnered to provide live, online tutoring services for RCPS students. Through this partnership, quarantined RCPS students in grades 6-12 can access live tutors on-demand, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from Tutor.com for 1-to-1 learning support. RCPS students in grades K-12 can access the same expert tutors afterschool.

The service provides homework help across more than 120 subjects, along with drop-off essay review and test prep.

Students can access Tutor.com through the ClassLink landing page in any internet browser on their school-issued laptop or device, which will automatically sign in the student to their account. Or they can visit https://launchpad.classlink.com/rockdale.

The Free and Reduced Meals application is now open for all families. Please be aware that state and federal programs may use the RCPS Free and Reduced Meals eligibility to determine who qualifies for assistance through those programs not associated with Rockdale County Public Schools. For this reason, we encourage you to fill out the RCPS Free and Reduced Meals application which is located on our website under District Announcements. Families have until May 27th to complete the application which may be used for benefits given during the next school year. This will not change anything for previously determined benefits and is not needed for meals during the current school year which are provided at no cost to all students. Again, this may determine your eligibility for benefits outside of RCPS that are provided by state and federal programs.

Excuse notes can be brought to Magnet’s front office or submitted via email to

MagnetOffice@rockdale.k12.ga.us . Please note that excuse notes must be submitted within 3 days of your student’s return to school.

Students must stay home if they are sick and stay home until they have been fever free for a minimum of 24 hours. Additionally, students and staff are required to isolate for 10 days when they receive a positive COVID-19 test.

While understanding it is key to stay home if a student is sick, we also need your partnership in limiting or eliminating unexcused absences. Students, you will not be eligible to exempt your Spring final exams if you have more than 3 unexcused absences. Please ensure that you are coming to school on all days that you are able.

While parents can now opt their student out of required mask wearing, we will continue with the following mitigation measures: frequent handwashing and use of hand sanitizer, social distancing when feasible, contact tracing, requiring students and staff to isolate for 10 days when they receive a positive COVID-19 test, and requiring students and staff to quarantine when identified as a close contact. Mrs. Baskett is our primary contact tracer at Magnet. Please reach out via email at abaskett@rockdale.k12.ga.us or by phone at 770-483-8737 if your student has a positive COVID-19 test or has been identified as a close contact.

Also, RCPS continues to offer free COVID testing Monday through Thursday along with free vaccine events. To learn more about contact tracing, isolation and quarantine guidance, testing and vaccines, please visit the district website at www.rockdaleschools.org and click on the COVID tab at the top of the page.
