Carver's Weekly Update
Week of Monday, August 15, 2022
We have completed week two of school. Our teachers and staff are working with students to make sure they understand our school-wide procedures and learning expectations. We had a lock down drill this past week, and the students were very attentive to the protocols that we have in place for this type of drill. We will continue to have one fire drill and one lock down drill each month.
A few reminders....
- If parents drive through the parking lot, please walk students to the crosswalk. For safety reasons, students should not be allowed to walk without an adult in the parking lot.
- Students should bring charged chrome books to school each day.
- Students will not be able to have cell phones in use during the school day.
- When students are absent, please email or send parent notes/medical excuses to Mrs. Williamson. dwilliamson@fsd1.org or attendance-ces@fsd1.org

Dress Code Guidelines
As the warm weather continues, please be mindful of the school’s dress code that is listed in the student agenda and the District’s Code of Conduct. We will follow the “skin test” or “fingertip rule” described below to determine if skirts and shorts are the appropriate length. We ask for your cooperation in allowing your child to do the “skin test” at home when you have concerns about whether the length of the clothing is appropriate for school.
Excerpt from Student Agenda/Student Code of Conduct:
Shorts, skirts, etc., must be long enough so that when hands are extended by the side (skin test), the student does not touch skin.
Tank tops (halter tops and spaghetti straps included) are not allowed. All shirt straps must be at least the width of two fingers.
We will follow the recommendations from the District’s Code of Conduct when students do not follow the dress code.
Thank you for your continued support!
Thank you to the Florence Evening Lions Club for donating book bags to our students!
