The All-Star Report
Final Edition
Dear All-Star School Community,
As I sit down to write this final newsletter message, I am filled with a mix of emotions. It is with a heavy heart yet also a sense of gratitude and fulfillment that I bid farewell to each and every one of you.
I am deeply and forever grateful for the support and dedication shown by our teachers, staff, students, and families. Your commitment and dedication to our All-Star community has truly made a difference in the lives of our students.
Although I am moving on to a new chapter in my journey, I am confident that the spirit of collaboration and the pursuit of excellence will continue to thrive in this extraordinary school community.
Thank you once again for allowing me to be a part of this incredible journey. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your principal. Please stay in touch, and I wish you all continued success and happiness in the years to come!!!
With love,
Linda
Celebrating Altavesta's Awesome Educators!
The Altavesta is home to exceptional educators! Annually, the Woburn Community Education Foundation organizes the Awesome Teacher Tribute campaign. Families, students, and community members nominate outstanding teachers, and the proceeds support grants, projects, and other school system initiatives! This year's honorees included: Amy Adreani, Christine Chute, Bill Estabrook, Kelly Knight, Carly McAllister, Kristine Mooney, Christy Nickerson, Beth O'Brien, Linda Riley, Vicky Russo, Patti Valente, and Kelly Wilhelm. Congratulations to our all of our awesome educators!
K-5 Students Showcase Musical Talents in Spectacular Year-End Concert
Our All-Star students captivated an audience of family and friends with a memorable performance at their annual year-end concert on June 17th. The event showcased the musical talents of students from kindergarten through 5th grade, highlighting their enthusiasm for music education.
From fun songs to engaging movements and skillfully played instruments, each grade level shared their unique contributions to the concert.
To end the concert, our kindergarten students led the entire school community in an all-school sing-along which highlighted our school's unique sense of community and sense of spirit!
5th Grade Fundraising Success!
Our fifth graders enthusiastically participated in our first grade-level community service project, which we hope will become an annual tradition! They organized a donation drive for the Kennedy Closet, an initiative with a 15-year history based at the Kennedy School. The Kennedy Closet collects contributions from community members and redistributes them to families in need during weekends and school breaks, providing essential supplies to support them.
5th Grade Moving On Ceremony
We had an incredible day honoring our fifth graders as they prepare to transition to middle school! The event began with a lively procession to the beat of Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling." Students captivated the audience with a heartfelt recitation of Cameron Brazelton's poignant poem "Everywhere I Go," followed by a touching adaptation of Lukas Graham's "Once I was Four Years Old," which moved many to tears.
The ceremony continued with the announcement of awards and the presentation of diplomas, followed by joyful family photos and heartfelt congratulations. The celebration concluded with pizza and cupcakes.
Later in the day, parents returned for an exhilarating kickball match against their children, fostering a fun and competitive atmosphere for all involved.
Perhaps My Favorite Photo from the Day!
It's unclear whose idea it was, but parents craftily persuaded the children to assemble for a class picture. As the students innocently posed, saying "cheese," parents seized the opportunity to douse them with water, spraying and throwing water balloons, turning the moment into a water-filled sneak attack for the unsuspecting 'sitting ducks'!
5th Grade Clap-Out!
The fifth-grade All-Stars made their final walk through the halls of Altavesta, greeted by applause from grades K-4, accompanied by Smash Mouth's "All Star" playing over the speakers.
