STAY INFORMED: WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED TO WSD
FLASH ALERT: EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
REMIND: KEEPING FAMILIES CONNECTED
The Woodburn School District is dedicated to the safety and well-being of its students and staff. To ensure that everyone is informed and prepared in the event of an emergency, the district uses a communication system called Flash Alert.
Flash Alert is a web-based service that enables the school district to quickly and efficiently communicate with parents, students, staff and local news channels. The system sends out alerts via email, text message, and phone calls, so that that everyone is informed and up-to-date on the latest information. This communication tool can be used in a variety of situations, such as in the event of an emergency or to communicate other important information. For instance, Flash Alert is used to communicate school closures due to inclement weather, and changes in school schedules.
Be sure to sign up for Flash Alert. Click on our link below to sign up for Flash Alerts from WSD.

Another method of communication WSD uses is Remind. Remind is a communication platform that helps individual schools, as well as the district, reach out directly to students and parents via email and/or messaging. In order to receive Remind messages it is critical that you provide your school up-to-date phone and/or email contact information. Remind is often used by sites to push out text and digital information which allows users to access it when it is convenient for them. To sign up for Remind, or update your information, please contact your school's office.

SUPPORT RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES: ACCESS TO STUDENT AND FAMILY SUPPORTS
Below you will find three resources for parents. The first resource is focused on helping parents navigate the topic of peer pressure with their child. The second is a resource for parents aimed at assisting them in gaining knowledge regarding substance use prevention. These resources specifically look at how today's digital society has increased students' access to illegal substances. The third resource is an opportunity to attend a training regarding suicide prevention. This is a free prevention workshop for all students and families in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. They are offering this workshop on three dates and you must sign up digitally.
Protecting Children From Online Drug Dealers: This resource is aimed at educating parents on how online/digital predators are using social media and other digital resources to target children.
Question. Persuade. Refer for Youth & Families: QPR is a 2-hour suicide gatekeeper skills training featuring a simplistic framework, detailed discussion of warning signs, and pragmatic "scripts." This is a widely-used suicide prevention training that has been customized for youth ages 12 and older and families to participate TOGETHER!

WHS CAREER FAIR: LOOKING FOR LOCAL PRESENTERS
The College, Career, and Community Resource Fair is happening again this spring. It is a fantastic opportunity for students in the WSD community to get a head start on their future careers and college plans. By attending the fair, students will have access to a wide range of resources and information related to colleges, careers, and community programs.
If you're a club or program looking to promote your offerings to the WSD community, hosting a table at the fair is a great way to do so. You'll have the chance to interact with students and parents, answer questions, and provide them with valuable information about your club or program.
To register your interest in hosting a table at the fair, simply contact Tony Manetti, College & Career Counselor at Woodburn High School with your details. Remember to include information about your club or program, as well as any resources or materials you'll be bringing to the event. We look forward to seeing you at the fair and helping to empower students in the WSD community to achieve their goals.
