Literacy Resources for Families
Click HERE to view literacy resources from UVA's Virginia Literacy Partnerships site to support your child at home in reading. These resources were introduced in Ms. Heckathorn's presentation on the Science of Reading during Camp Out for Reading!
New Reading Program: Your Feedback Needed
We are excited to share with you that our school division is adopting a new reading program for next school year. As part of the process, our English Language Arts Adoption Committee has narrowed to two options: HMH Into Reading and Benchmark Advance. You are invited to provide feedback on each of these programs.
Please click on each of the links below to go to the caregiver resources offered by each program.
Once you are ready, please provide feedback by using the survey linked below. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Pashto, and Dari.
ELA Adoption Caregiver/Community Survey
If you are interested in looking at the entire program, there are K-5 kits available in the school. You are welcome to come to school to look at these and fill out the feedback survey at school. It’s very helpful to contact the school ahead of time to let us know you are coming to review the programs. The caregiver feedback survey deadline is December 8th.
Camp Out for Reading Celebration
Camp Out for Reading was quite the hit!
We sang songs and ate s'mores around the fire pit.
Reading in tents, fun crafts, and more...
We'd give this night a perfect score.
Thank you for joining us for Camp Out for Reading earlier this week! We had a wonderful time seeing so many of our Dragon families and celebrating the joy of reading.
Our Gardens Are Growing!
Thanks to generous support from the Piedmont Master Gardeners and the Stony Point PTO, we were able to replace our garden beds and ensure that each class will have their own dedicated growing space. Thank you to Amber Capron for organizing and all of the volunteers for helping with this huge project!
PTO Direct Donation Drive
We are grateful for our partnership with the PTO! Last year's drive raised enough funds to purchase a brand new electric piano for the school in addition to a new laminator for school-wide use.
Making a tax-deductible donation to the PTO is easy:
- PayPal- https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/2256331
- Venmo- @stonypointpto or https://venmo.com/u/stonypointpto
- Send a check made payable to the Stony Point PTO
