Seth Dull and Desirea Komes were nominated by the WHS Math Department as the November Students of the Month.

Seth Dull came to WHS as a 9th grade student who wasn't confident in his math ability. He regularly said, "math is really hard," and "I've never been good at math." Even with his lack of confidence, Seth always gave 100% effort and ended up getting the top grade in the class. Since this time, he has gained confidence in his math abilities, and has continued to get top scores in math class. He even decided to double up on math this year, taking both geometry and algebra 2 at the same time, so that he is able to take Alg 3 and trig before graduating. Seth is not only a strong math student, but he has an incredible work ethic, is very kind, and is always willing to help those around him. Seth absolutely deserves to be the WHS Math Student of the Year!

Desirea Komes is incredibly hard working. She always does her work thoroughly, making sure she understands any new concepts we are learning. She is ambitiously enrolled in both geometry and Algebra II this year, and is excelling in both. Desirea actively participates in class by answering questions, challenging herself with the extra credit work, collaborating with others, and helping classmates that may not understand a question. Aside from her work ethic in math class, Desirea is an awesome human. She is thoughtful, kind to everyone she encounters, and a joy to be around.

Our Key Club is participating in the Virtual Red Kettle Challenge through the Salvation Army. We are competing against local high schools to raise the most money. The campaign runs through tomorrow. Donations will be collected virtually at the following link:

The WHS band and Percussion Ensemble will hold their annual Holiday Concert on December 6th at 7:00pm in the Patriot Performing Arts Theater.

The Aspen Ridge Elementary will hold their annual Holiday Concert on December 7th at Westwood High School. Pre-K thru 2nd grade is at 10:00 am and grades 3-5 are at 1:00 pm. Parking is always an adventure so sho up early!

Over the last few weeks, the student council led their annual food drive. The students collected over 1300 non-perishable food items that were delivered to the local Salvation Army just in time for the holidays. Thank you to all who donated to such a worthy cause!

Students have the option to exempt from semester exams based on attendance or academic performance througout the semester. Click here to view the criteria to qualify for exam exemptions.

Exam exemption forms can be picked up in the high school office beginning the week of January 8th.
