Please Note: Change in Start Time for Monday's Board of Education Meeting
The Board of Education will meet for its annual Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 8. Please note that the meeting time has been moved up an hour and the meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Davison High School Auditorium.
Didn't receive the "snow day" text this week? This may be the reason why
If you didn't receive a text or phone call to let you know about this week's school closing, there are a few possible reasons.
In the majority of cases, the issue is because the individual switched phone carriers or plans and their number was deactivated by the phone carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc.) or placed on the "do not call" list. It is not because our emergency notification system is not working. If you have previously received texts and phone calls and did not receive one this week, please email your name and phone number to medwards@davisonschools.org. If you have the same phone number, we can normally "reactivate" it in our system.
In some cases, a parent may have provided their contact information but a box was left unchecked in our student information system. This can be corrected by simply contacting your student's school.
If you are a step-parent, grandparent or other relative who needs to know when school is cancelled, you can sign up to receive text, phone and email messages by clicking on this link:
https://davison.parentlink.net/main/login/new-account-sign-up
We know that your time is valuable so the District is very intentional about when to use text to relay messages. We will reserve this feature for school closings, emergency situations or when we need to call attention to a letter that we've sent home or a situation that requires your attention.

Positivity Project
Next week's Character Trait: Self-Control
Self-control means having the ability to control your emotions and behaviors. You think before you act. Those with self-control are able to limit impulsive behavior. They have the ability to experience and navigate difficulty while remaining poised. They understand that through discipline and restraint, there are greater, long-term goals that they can accomplish. Self-control does not mean a lack of thoughts, feelings, or impulses; it just means you have command over them.
Some questions you can share with your child regarding this topic include:
What are the benefits of self-control?
How is self-control related to short-term and long-term goals?
How can we increase self-control?
