MUMS Family Newsletter
November 17th, 2023
Dear MUMS community,
We hope this email finds you well.
Quarter 1 report cards have been mailed out to you. If you do not receive a report card by next week, please contact Megan Curran at 802-382-1295. If you have questions about how to understand the report card, please stay tuned! We will have a quick tutorial in next week’s newsletter to help answer questions.
Lastly, we hope that next week allows you all to slow down a bit, spend time with loved ones and do things that bring you joy! We will miss our students, but look forward to a slower pace as we gear up for the final school weeks of 2023!
We are feeling super grateful for the entire MUMS community!
If you have questions generally, please reach out to us at mwisell@acsdvt.org (Michaela)
or zjerome@acsdvt.org (Zach) or dhunt@acsdvt.org (Dustin) or by calling the MUMS office at 802-382-1600 or by visiting the MUMS website for more information.

Two quick reminders to families about report cards:
If you are curious about what kinds of skills are measured in each of your child’s class criteria, you can log onto the PowerSchool parent portal, click into the particular class you’re interested in learning more about, and access the live links for all four rubrics. Please contact Megan Curran at 802-382-1295 if you need help accessing PowerSchool. It’s never too late to get your login information!
Your child’s report card will have scores for at least one of the criteria for each class. It will also have your child’s scores for several Approaches to Learning skills: Organization, Affective, Collaboration, and Collaboration. Here are some examples of the behaviors we help all students work on in their classes at MUMS.

Affective Skills

Relocation Drill December 6th, 2023
Earlier this year, we shared an overview of school safety at ACSD. In the month of December our MUMS School Safety focus will be “Relocation”. This is a procedure that we would follow in the event of an emergency here at school that would cause us to relocate staff and students to keep us safe. Like any safety drill, it is important to practice with our students and staff. The MUMS school safety team has been refining this protocol over the last few weeks and we are ready to complete a practice drill. We plan to practice our relocation protocol on December 6th 2023. Students will do this “on team” with support from folks on our School Safety Team. This will happen in the context of the school day. Our primary relocation site is the Middlebury Recreation Center. I will share additional details in upcoming family newsletters and please direct any questions or concerns to me.
Help with the staff wish list!
Staff Wish List
- Our Staff Wish List includes lots of things you might have around your home unused, like magazines (for Ms. Ambrose's classes), milk crates (for Ms. Cosgrove's classes), tools, scrap wood, craft supplies and more!
Memo. From Nurse Palko
REMINDER
Flu and covid are on the rise!
If your child is exhibiting any of the following symptoms PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL.
Fever 100.4 and greater
Chills
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Flu like symptoms- general malaise, body aches
The student must be symptom free for at least 24 hours (without the use of medications) before returning to school.
It is strongly encouraged to test your child for covid. Unfortunately, the school is unable to provide covid tests to students at this time, we should be getting more in- but a very minimal amount. Please check your local pharmacy, online, or the local health department. The federal government is also offering 4 free covid tests to each family, see the following website www.covid.gov
Hand hygiene! Encourage your child to hand wash frequently and utilize hand sanitizer. Cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. And don't forget to schedule your child for their annual flu shot and covid booster!
Following these guidelines will help stop widespread flu and covid throughout the school. If you have any questions please reach out. Thank you!
