Together in learning and faith
We are realizing that we are drawing strength from each other at the start of the year. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9) Working together, we will achieve Pope Francis's vision for a rich student experience filled with truth and goodness. If we can support your child or your family in any capacity, let us know.
This week we will have our opening school mass outside at Taurus Field. It is a wonderful opportunity for our home, school, and parish communities to comet together to celebrate and support the students that we are blessed to work with this year. We are looking forward to celebrating with all of our Fort Saskatchewan Catholic Schools We'd love to see you there.

New Nutrition Program Let us know if you are able to volunteer your time for this program!
Dear Parents & Guardians,
At Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School we are committed to ensuring that students have access to safe and nutritious food at school.
Please see below the excerpt from our EICS Nutrition Administrative Procedure:
“Elk Island Catholic Schools recognizes nutrition as an essential element of student and staff wellness, and acknowledges its role in optimal growth and development. We are committed to creating nutrition environments in schools that promote and provide access to healthy food choices for all. Elk Island Catholic Schools is committed to the development of healthy eating habits as achieved through education in a positive nutrition environment. EICS will work with the Comprehensive School Health approach in creating and maintaining healthy school communities.”
You can read the whole Administrative Procedure here: https://www.eics.ab.ca/download/418947
We are fortunate enough to have received a grant from the Alberta Government for a nutrition program at OLA. This is accessible to all students. Each day, all students will be offered a nutritious snack. Snacks will be prepared ahead of time and delivered to classrooms once a day. Alternative snacks will be provided to students who have food allergies or food sensitivities. If you have not already done so, please make sure your child’s medical forms are up to date in PowerSchool. If you would prefer that your child not receive a snack from this program please let the office know.
As many students have allergies and we wish to promote inclusion and equity, no food brought from home will be distributed for sharing amongst students. Please know that we are not trying to take the fun out of birthdays and celebrations. Our school will continue to recognize special days in special ways.
Here are some suggestions if you want to celebrate your child on their birthday.
Small items such as erasers, tops, notepads, bookmarks
Come into the classroom and read a book
Make a donation to the classroom(books, games, plant)
Thank-you for your understanding and respect with this matter. Our students' health and safety are of utmost importance.
