May 2023
LISD Families,
The last few days of school are upon us, and I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students, staff and district as ONE LISD this school year. There are quite a few updates I want to share with you today before everyone heads off into summer next week.
In my video message below, I touch on a few important topics including the welcoming of two new board members at Monday’s board meeting, the naming of new board officers, an update on the 88th Legislative Session, and safety and security in LISD.
The Texas House recently released information related to Senate Bill 3 regarding property tax relief. I want to say clearly that we are strongly in support of property tax relief, and we encourage lawmakers to make meaningful changes to our property taxes. However, while the state claims this bill would “inject billions of new dollars into the state’s public education system”, the truth is money saved through property tax relief is not an investment into public education. Read more about the state's claims about Senate Bill 3, and the truth about what it means for public schools in a response by the Texas School Coalition.
In this month’s newsletter, there are several dates to mark on your calendar, information to keep you informed about the bond planning process, ways to advocate to our legislators for public schools, and so much more.
I love seeing first-hand the amazing things happening in the classrooms across Lewisville ISD, and I am so grateful for your partnership and support of our schools.
Dr. Lori Rapp, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Advocate for Texas Public Schools
The majority of Texans want our public schools to be fully funded, and are not in favor of public money being diverted toward private schools. The creation of a voucher system that funds private schools at a much higher rate than the state currently funds the 1,000+ school districts in Texas that serve 5.4M Texas children does not represent the will of most Texans. A voucher will take money away from public education. As we’ve said all spring, contact your legislators to let them know your thoughts. Your feedback does make a difference!

LISD Named to Forbes’ ‘Best Employers for Diversity’ List
Lewisville Independent School District has once again been named one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes. LISD was one of just two public school districts in the nation to make the list, and the only district in the state of Texas to be recognized. To create its rankings, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to create the sixth annual list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity. To determine the rankings, Statista surveyed more than 45,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. READ MORE
