Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 2/16/2024
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
We have been celebrating Black History Month this February, and many classrooms have been engaging in lessons/activities to recognize this important month. Some examples of this have been essay writing about famous black Americans and international figures, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., class reads of books about Black History, such as Ms. Klukiewicz's 6th Grade students read aloud of the book Hidden Figures, and Ms. Schmalzried having her students read an online article about Black History month, as well as engage in a Black History Month reading comprehension activity. Additionally, Mill Creek staff has posted informational posters about famous black Americans and international figures in hallways and other common areas, providing our students with another opportunity to learn about those who made black history!
Mill Creek was also treated to a visit by Acting Superintendent Dr. Scanlon on Thursday. Dr. Scanlon toured the building and was able to visit many Mill Creek classrooms. He was greeted warmly by our students and staff, and he made numerous comments about how impressed was with the learning he observed!
Happy belated Valentine's Day, and enjoy the extended Presidents Day Weekend, Mill Creek!
