PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Estabrook Families,
As of this writing, more than 300 of our families have shared their feedback on homework at Estabrook School. THANK YOU! Your voice is so important as we evaluate our shift to a homework plan focusing on independent and shared reading at home.
The survey window is open until tomorrow at midnight. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Don't miss your opportunity to share your thoughts on our homework plan. This feedback, along with survey results from our faculty, staff and students, parent focus groups, and academic data will help us examine the plan.

Estabrook School Council Seeks Parent Representatives
The Estabrook School Council is looking to fill two parent representative seats that will be vacated at the end of this school year. The School Council serves as an advisory board to the principal, and assists with the creation and review of the School Improvement Plan, among other duties. Individuals serving on the Council will represent the parents of Estabrook School at monthly School Council meetings, and will serve a two-year term.
The Estabrook PTO conducts the elections for these important seats. Applications are due by May 19. Elections will be held the week of May 22-26. Click here for more information and click here to learn more about the Estabrook School Council.

Estabrook welcomes new staff to our team
Estabrook is pleased to welcome MIMI BIX-HYLAN as our social worker long-term substitute. Ms. Bix-Hylan is a licensed clinical social worker, and comes to Lexington with years of experience as a counselor and social worker in educational and health care settings, both locally and across the country. Most recently, Ms. Bix-Hylan has worked as a social worker in Danvers and in the Salem Public Schools. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Bix-Hylan to our team.
Estabrook is also pleased to welcome CLAUDIA MCCARTHY to our team. Ms. McCarthy will serve as an instructional assistant throughout the building now through the end of the school year. Ms. McCarthy takes the place of Anna Sternfeld, who is serving at Heather Gordon's long term substitute in grade 2, as Mrs. Gordon and her family await the birth of her second child. Ms. McCarthy is a retired general and special education teacher, with years of experience at the elementary and middle school levels. In recent years, Ms. McCarthy has served as a per-diem and long term substitute teacher across Lexington. Please join us in welcoming Ms. McCarthy!
