MEA eSports All Team Meeting
MEA eSports will be having an all team meeting on Tuesday, Jan 23rd, starting at 3:05 in B-15. If you cannot make it in person you may Zoom in with the following link: https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/87137236130
New team members are encouraged to come and join. We will be discussing the Winter and upcoming Spring Seasons, setting training schedule, Game Night, Move-A-Thon, and hosting school wide spring tournament.

Family Game Night
Come and join us for Family Game Night!!! We will have various board games, card games, roleplaying games, and more for students and their families to join in on. This is a great opportunity to meet other MEA families and celebrate the end of the first semester.
Students in grades 6 and above who wish to attend without a parent/guardian will need to submit a completed permission slip to the Front Office or bring one with them. Parents, please be onhand promptly at 7:00 pm to pick up your student, as supervision will not be available after the event has ended.

CALLING ALL BEGINNING AND EXPERIENCED BAND MUSICIANS!
We welcome you to sign up for the MEA BAND to play exciting music Tuesdays at 8:05 am. Please contact Mr. Johnson if interested.
Mr.Johnson can also arrange to loan you a district instrument for the year.
Rocket Launch
On January 28th, from 8am-12pm, the Rocketry Club plans on test flying a model rocket at the Dart Rocketry Launch Site on Fiesta Island for the American Rocketry Challenge. If you would like to see some model rocket launches, feel free to stop by. It will not only be us launching our rocket, but other teams and people who have built their own rockets.

Our second annual M.E.A. Pop-Up Art Show is happening on Wednesday, January 31st in the Auditorium from 12:00 to 3:30. Come on by and check out some of the great creations made by the students here at M.E.A. We will have work on display from several of our classes, and the illustrious M.E.A. Jamband will be performing. We’re looking forward to seeing you all then!
Thursday, February 8th MEA Foundation Move-A-Thon
Save The Date and get ready for a fun filled event!
Our annual Talent Showcase and Silent Auction will be held on Friday, March 8. The application for performers and stage crew will be posted here next Monday and will be due on February 15. Tech rehearsals will be held on February 27 and 28, and the dress rehearsal will take place on the morning of the show.
Valentine's Day Craft
All Students, we’ve got fun Valentine's crafts for you! Come make some fun, easy, Valentine's card and paper hearts bouquet in MakerSpace. We will have the supplies ready to create. You just need to show up (K to 5th graders need to be accompanied by a parent/an adult).

Get ready for the Hero Move-A-Thon event on Thursday, February 8th 1:30 - 3:30 at Mt. Everest Academy. This will be TONs of fun and raise money to make our school even better for you. Joining will also get you some incredible prizes, like stickers, squishmallows, boba, and an ice cream party.
Here is what you need to do to start your fundraising page.
Join your class Team for the event. Simply click “Join a Team” on the event page. You’ll create your own fundraising profile and select your grade. You can enter your story, upload a photo and tell why you are fundraising. Then share your fundraiser link.
Check out the amazing prizes below and set yourself a fundraising goal. Even if it’s just to get your first donation.
Share your link with family and friends. It’s as simple as telling them that you are fundraising for your school programs, and if they’d like to donate you’d be very grateful.
Here are your fundraising prizes:
The more you raise, the more prizes you get. Each level you reach gives you the prize for that level, along with every single prize for all the levels before it.
Your first donation: A fun sticker for your water bottle, computer, or phone
Raise $15: A meal voucher for Chick-Fil-A

Raise $70: Chose a Disney, Star Wars, or Marvel themed squishmallow

Top two from each team: Sit in the splash chair for 5 minutes (weather permitting)
Every team that collectively reaches their team fundraising goal will be treated to an ice cream party. Here are the team goals:

Calling all 9th-11th grade MEA students! Yearbook staff is asking for your help to answer a few questions. We want to know your opinions on various subjects that might make it into this year's yearbook!
PALS
Join us for PALS , peer tutoring and schoolwork collaboration, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at MEA! PALS is available to all students in grades K-12. Elementary parents need to complete the PALS Check-in form and provide it to the PALS supervisor. This form lets our tutors know what assignment or skills you wish your student to work on while attending PALS.
