Dear Parents and Carers,
As we enter the festive season, I hope that you are all well and your Christmas preparations are underway! Over the next two weeks, we have an extremely busy timetable in school and very much look forward to seeing you in school as we celebrate this special season together.
Yvette Cooper
Last week, we were very excited to welcome Yvette Cooper into school to meet Oliver, our Year 3 pupil who won a competition to design her Christmas card this year. We are extremely proud of Oliver and contacted the local press to ask them to run the story. Here is Oliver with a copy of an article in the Pontefract and Wakefield Express. What an achievement! This memory will stay with Oliver and his family forever. Well done Oliver!
This Week
Tuesday 5th December
On Tuesday the children really impressed us with their resilience to do the reindeer run, raising funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract, despite the rainy weather. This event is for a great cause and we thoroughly enjoy participating in the run each year. Thank you to all the parents/carers who came to watch their children run and thank you for all the donations sent in to us. Well done children!
Thursday 7th December
On Thursday our Head Boy and Head Girl were invited to go into Pontefract town centre to judge the Christmas shop windows along with other schools in our area. This event is run yearly by Pontefract Civic Society who we think are doing some amazing things for the town and community. We have yet to learn the outcome of the competition but we will announce the winner as soon as we know.
Thursday 7th December
On Thursday afternoon, EYFS visited St Giles church in Pontefract. Reverand Sam Fletcher spoke to the children about the meaning of Christmas and Advent. He then retold the Christmas Story and the children had the opportunity to act out some parts. They had a wonderful time. We look forward to welcoming Reverand Fletcher in to school to see us again in the New Year.
Friday 8th December
It has been such a wonderful day in school today as the children came wearing Christmas Jumpers/non- school uniform together with festive headwear for Christmas Dinner Day. The children were so excited and there was a fantastic festive buzz around school. The tables were decorated in keeping with the Christmas theme and we had festive music playing. It was a delight to see the children’s happy faces.
