A Message from Principal Cutone
Hello, Harwich Elementary School families!
I hope this message finds you all in high spirits and ready to dive into a brand-new school year. The entire HES staff and I are beyond thrilled to welcome each and every one of you to our wonderful school community.
First things first, I hope you've had an incredible summer full of laughter, relaxation, and great memories. Now, as we gear up to kick off the school year, our teachers and staff are buzzing with excitement as we prepare to welcome our amazing students back next week.
Now, I know the start of a new school year can sometimes bring a mix of emotions – a little excitement, a dash of nervousness, and maybe a touch of nostalgia for the summer days. But fear not! We are here to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone.
I want to share a few updates with you. Our incredible school nurse, Heather Stamp, has decided to explore new horizons beyond school nursing. While we'll miss her dearly, we're also excited for her new journey. Stepping into her shoes is Kim Monteiro, the familiar face from the MRSD float nurse team who knows our school well. She'll be leading our health room with the same care and expertise that we've come to trust until a permanent nurse is hired. You may reach Nurse Kim at kmonteiro@monomoy.edu.
Speaking of easing those first-day jitters, we've got a fantastic ice cream social lined up this afternoon. It's all about coming together, enjoying sweet treats, and fostering those friendships that make our school community so special. Thank you, PTO, for this exciting opportunity!
The start of the school year can mean some adjustments to routines. Now is a great time to begin to adjust night and morning routines to ensure enough sleep for your children. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 9-12 hours per night for elementary-aged children.
Regarding arrival and dismissal, during the first couple of weeks, things usually take a little longer as students and drivers get accustomed to new routines. If you can have your little ones ready to hop out of the car quickly and independently, it will really help us keep things running smoothly. Your patience and understanding as we navigate these early days are truly appreciated.
Oh, and speaking of transportation, you can find the bus routes at this link. We're all about making sure everyone knows the ropes.
Our custodial and maintenance team has been hard at work, and our school building is absolutely gleaming. Plus, we've got a shiny new water bottle filling station in the cafeteria. Staying hydrated has never been cooler!
I can't wait to see all those familiar faces back in the halls, ready to embrace another year of learning, growing, and making memories. If you have any questions or need anything at all, remember that our doors are always open.
Here's to a fantastic school year ahead, full of discovery, laughter, and countless "a-ha" moments. Let's do this, together!
Warmest regards,
Christie Cutone

Atenciosamente,
Christie Cutone
