Happy New Year
I hope you enjoyed extra time with loved ones and everyone is feeling recharged and ready to tackle the second half of the school year. As we come back to school, I encourage you to take time to celebrate the accomplishments of your child during the first semester and to help them set academic and personal goals as we begin the second semester.
For those students who have not yet taken advantage of the opportunities Garfield has to offer there is still time to do so. If students need to improve academically our teachers are here to help. Students are always encouraged to ask questions during class, come in after school for help, and to make learning a top priority. Garfield teachers are more than happy to help any student who is struggling. Students can also attend Homework Club after school from 3-4 pm any day throughout the week. This is open to all students, as needed. There is also still time to join clubs and activities. Being an active learner and being a part of the Garfield community makes the middle school years more enjoyable and will prepare students for the rigor of high school.

PTSA Fundraiser
Welcome back to school and the beginning of the new year! In December, I hinted at the upcoming PTSA fundraiser in my email, and now I'm excited to share more details with all of you. In the past, our primary fundraising method involved a "calendar" fundraiser to support various PTSA goals throughout the school year. However, with the absence of a VP Fundraising, managing this task became challenging. As a result, we are introducing our "Alternative" Fundraiser!
Unlike traditional fundraisers that involve selling items, making purchases, or seeking donations for raffles, our approach is straightforward. We kindly ask each Garfield family to contribute a minimum of $15 to support our goal of providing for all 480 students and 79 staff at Garfield. This collective effort will enable us to organize events such as the spring dance, 8th-grade celebrations, staff appreciation, and more for our school community.
For further details and instructions on making your donation, please refer to the flyer below. Your support is crucial in making these initiatives a reality, and together, I believe we can accomplish this!
PTSA Upcoming Events
Mark your calendars now for the following upcoming events:
- Mon, Jan 8th TODAY Dining Fundraiser at Ohio City Burrito! (mention Garfield when ordering)
- Wed, Jan 17th @ 7pm Monthly PTSA Meeting
Are you interested in being part of the Executive Board for PTSA next year? There will be several positions open and we will be forming a nominating committee at the January meeting. Please reach out if you want more information or are interested in any position!
