Monitor Elementary School
November 2024
Message from Principals
October was a wonderful month at Monitor Elementary! Students participated in fun learning activities {including our first ever UNPLUGGED day}, celebrated making healthy choices during red ribbon week, and had fun dressing up for our annual book character parade. We also loved seeing all of our families enjoying their time together at our fall festival.
This month, both second grade and fourth grade will take a field trip, and third thru fifth grade students will have the chance to show all they know on our ATLAS interim tests. We'll also host a STEAM family night on Monday, November 18th. We hope you'll join us for a fun night of hands on activities. Students will be out of school November 25th-29th for Thanksgiving break, and school will resume on Monday, December 2nd at 7:45am. November will be another great month, and we're looking forward to all we have planned!
Mrs. Andi Acuff, Principal
Mrs. Cassie Marquette, Assistant Principal

Monitor Elementary School Hours
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after this time should be signed in by an adult in the front office. Students are dismissed each day at 3:10pm with early release at 1:50pm on Wednesdays.
Student Check In/Check Out Procedures
Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm so there is enough time for the office to notify the teacher. Please note that if you are checking your student out, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up. This ensures students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
Thankful Thursday
Every Thursday in November, we like to do something for our teachers to show them how thankful we are for their hard work and dedication to our students. In the past we have provided things like Sonic drinks, Crumbl cookies, and mini Nothing Bundt Cakes. If you are interested in helping sponsor one of our three Thursdays in November, you can reach out to Mrs. Acuff or Mrs. Marquette. If you would you rather donate funds, you can Venmo @MonitorBoosterClub with a donation. We appreciate your support in helping us show our teachers how thankful we are for all they do!
Veterans Day
Thank you to all of our veterans! We appreciate your sacrifice and we honor you! If you have a family member who has served or is serving, we would love to post their picture on our bulletin board to recognize them. Please send photos with name and rank to Mrs. Engelmann at sengelmann@sdale.org.
Student Flu Clinic
Our student flu clinic will be Thursday, November 14th. If you would like your child to receive a flu shot at school, please complete the forms sent home with your child and return them to school. If you have any questions, you can contact Nurse Becky.
Thanksgiving Break
There will be NO SCHOOL November 25th-November 29th. We hope you have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving break! School resumes Monday, December 2nd at 7:45am.
Dress Code Reminders
- Distressed jeans should have holes or rips above fingertip length.
- Shirts should be long enough so the midriff is not showing.
- Pajama pants should be worn on pajama days only.
If you need any help with clothing for your child, please contact the school and connect with our school social worker, Reina Hart.
5th Grade Reality Check
Reality Check, Inc. has been invited to present the Everybody Changes puberty program to our fifth grade students. This information will be presented in separate groups of males and females. Topics include puberty, adolescents, and physical, emotional, and social changes. If you have any questions, please contact our school counselor, Mrs. Engelmann.
ROOMS Communication Platform
This year, all elementary schools in Springdale are using ROOMS as the primary communication platform between teachers and families. Families should download the Springdale Public Schools app to access communication with the teacher. You'll want to choose ROOMS in the bottom right hand corner and enter your phone number to request a security code be sent via text. Using the app, you'll be able to receive important updates and chat with your child's teacher. If you have trouble getting signed up, feel free to stop by the school for help getting ROOMS set up!
Christmas Assistance Opportunities
Below are links to information from several community organizations who are offering Christmas assistance to families this year. Below you can find links to information about the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Miracle on 14th Street program being offered by The Compassion Coalition of NWA, and Christmas support being offered by Sharing and Caring (Benton County ONLY). Please reach out to our social worker, Mrs. Reina Hart, if you have any questions!
Student Attendance
Attendance at school is important for successful academic progress. Regular attendance is also required by Arkansas State Law 6-18-221. It is important for students to be at school each day and on time. Our goal at Monitor Elementary is to have all students miss no more than five days each semester. We do understand that children get sick periodically, however students should be at school unless they have a fever, have been vomiting, or have diarrhea. In addition, every effort should be made to schedule appointments outside school hours or on non-school days. Below you will find the 2024-2025 academic calendar. Please refer to this when scheduling appointments or trips so you can ensure students don't miss school when possible! If your child will not be at school, please call the school office at (479) 750-8749 or reach out to your child's teacher.
