Ofsted Gives Lister a Fantastic Report
Here is the working that you may have recently seen on our website:
We were visited by OFSTED on 8th and 9th October 2024. Our last previous inspection had been in December 2018, and since then the school has faced a number of challenges.
It was very pleasing to receive the finding that the school ‘has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection’. This means that the school continues to be GOOD.
Here are some extracts from the report:
‘Lister Community School is highly supportive of its pupils. Pupils are benefiting from recent changes that have improved learning and behaviour.’
‘The school has raised its expectation of what pupils should achieve. The curriculum is more ambitious. The school is fostering a culture of joy in learning. Pupils are responding well to these new standards.’
‘The provision for personal development is well-planned and considered.’
‘There are opportunities for pupils to get involved.’
‘Everyone is working together to ensure pupils’ experiences are consistently high quality.’
The full inspection report is available here.
The information is also available from the Ofsted website.
At the Lister News Team, we are delighted that Ofsted saw all of the wonderful things that we recognise every day at Lister and this is a tremendous benediction from an insightful and unbiased agency.
Top Praise Earners Back to Stay
Dear Parents and Carers,
In last year's version of the parent mail, every week we published a league table of the top praise earners from each house. This was a celebration of the most successful house teams at Lister. Now that we have moved on to the year team system, we could not publish the same news. Here we have now reformatted the old system - highlighting year groups' success and the particular form groups and individuals in year groups who are earning the most praises. Keep an eye out for your child's name here and see whether their form group have had particular success through the week!
