KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
We’ve reached the end of our second week of school and there is so much to celebrate! The Explorers are getting into the swing of things and have demonstrated the words of our Northwood Pledge “Today I pledge to do my best. I will respect others. I will look at ways to grow and improve. My life makes a difference at Northwood Elementary.”
Today marks the tenth day of student enrollment, a key date for Fulton County Schools that is tied to staffing allocations. As of this morning, Northwood’s student enrollment is 569 which is up slightly from the 551 early spring projections. The district looks at campus enrollment across the schools and makes necessary adjustments. As of now, I do not anticipate any changes to our campus, but I won’t receive final word until later tonight.
The district also recently implemented some changes and more clearly defined rules and tiered consequences in the 2024-25 Code of Conduct. Please take time to review the updated Code of Conduct and then follow the instructions below to sign off on your review in your Infinite Campus portal. Please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Levine, if you have any questions regarding the Code of Conduct.
Reminder for carpool families: for the safety of students, staff, and others please remember to wait in line and do not pass other vehicles on the carpool circle. Students have done a great job of being ready to exit the car and keep the line moving!
Enjoy the weekend and find time to enjoy the outdoors and enjoy a good book. If you have time, we’d love more Northwood Nice Notes ~ you can find the link here.
With gratitude,
Heather Q. Rucker, principal
KINDERGARTEN EXPLORERS
Kindergarten has been busy learning about the PBIS Expectations……Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Engaged. Our newest Explorers are doing a great job practicing the routines and procedures of the classroom, cafeteria, hallway, and all of the places around the school. Everyone is looking forward to a fun year making new friends and learning lots of new things.
FIRST GRADE EXPLORERS
First Grade is so excited to be back in school! We've had fun practicing our counting to 120, learning about community building, and reading awesome books about school. We're ready to have the best year.
GET INVOLVED: NORTHWOOD CLUB APPLICATIONS
Northwood is excited to offer Explorers several morning and afternoon clubs for their enrichment and enjoyment.
Participants are expected to adhere to Northwood PBIS behavior expectations both during the school day and during club activities. We want your child's participation in school clubs to be a great experience of learning and interaction with other students. Our three Northwood expectations “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Engaged” will continue to be taught during all club activities. Club advisors will use Northwood’s Reflect and Refocus forms to teach positive behavior and “stop and think” strategies. Club participation is dependent on students following these PBIS procedures.
Below is the Northwood Club Schedule and application links with more details about deadlines and start dates.

OUR CLINIC CLOSET NEEDS CLOTHES
Accidents happen - in the classroom, at recess, at lunch or the bathroom. When our Explorers get messy they often head to the Clinic to get cleaned up. We keep extra clothes on hand for those quick changes. Our clinic closet is in need of boys underwear as well as girls and boys bottoms, but we appreciate all donations. If you have any clothing items you'd like to contribute you can send them in with your student or drop them off at the front desk. Thanks!
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Looking to volunteer? All volunteers will need to complete the Fulton County Schools online registration process. For more information and to begin the process, please click the link below.
Important Information for Second Grade Families
Per District policy, ALL second-grade families are required to provide the school with 2 proofs of residency before entering second grade. Copies can be dropped off at the front desk or emailed to our Data Clerk, Amy Dulion, at dulionaw@fultonschools.org.
