Miller Career & Technology Center students and parents,

Happy October! We are well into our Fall holiday season and all the hustle and bustle that comes with it. Please read below for a few campus updates, initiatives, and reminders.

At the end of September, we were able to surprise our first round of EPIC² student award winners. These students were nominated by their teachers for displaying our core values (Empowerment, Professionalism, Integrity, Commitment, and Curiosity) and serving as role models for their peers. Congratulations, we are so proud of each of you!

At the end of September, we were also able to surprise our first Marvelous Miller staff award winners of the year. This award goes to employees who go above and beyond the call of duty and contribute positively to our school community. Thank you for all you do for our students and staff!

We are so excited to kick off MCTC's 2025 - 2026 recruitment season with our inaugural group of MCTC Student Ambassadors! Looking forward to all this group will do to promote MCTC to Katy ISD students and our community. Please see below for our ambassadors' pictures.

MCTC will be hosting its fourth-annual Miller Monster Mash for the Katy ISD community. Elementary-aged children and their parents are invited to explore our building while going on a hunt for free candy. Kids are never too young to learn what Miller has to offer!

Our students will be volunteering during the night, helping families navigate the building, leading games, and/or handing out candy. Our students are encouraged to donate bags of candy to their career program teachers if able. Please see the flyer below for more information and feel free to share it with friends and family.

In addition to the eligible exemptions listed in the Katy ISD Semester Exam Exemption Criteria below, Junior and Senior students are able to earn an extra exemption as an attendance incentive.

• Juniors - If a student has met all exemption criteria (grades and discipline) and has no more than 3 absences in any class at Miller this semester, the student qualifies to request an additional exemption (beyond the 3 allotted).
• Seniors - If a student has met the discipline criteria and has no more than 3 absences in any class at Miller, the grade criteria moves to a 70 or higher for the semester for the student to be able to exempt the additional requested semester exam.

• Monday, November 18th - Adulting 101 Sessions for Seniors through CTE classes
• Monday, November 25th - Friday, November 29th - Thanksgiving Holiday

This year, our campus fundraiser includes a Miller spirit shirt and tumbler. The shirt represents each of our career programs on the back. The tumbler is not only functional but students can receive $1.00 drink refills at our Old Town Bistro. Please see the flyer below for more information. Our first SkillsUSA meeting of the year was a great success! If you are interested in becoming an official member of one of our campus chapters, please submit your membership dues ($50.00) through Pay N' Go. The chapter advisor will reach out to you with additional information regarding upcoming meetings and activities.

This year, we have developed a MCTC EPIC² Student Canvas course, where we will share information with students and parent observers regarding whole-campus procedures, activities, and initiatives. This is just one other source of communication with our community. All students have already been added to the course and therefore, parents have observer access.

Students have 3 options to travel to and from Miller Career & Technology Center:

1. Students may take District-provided bus transportation (Specific route information below.)
2. Students may drive themselves to and from Miller (See Parking Permit Information below.)
3. Students may be dropped off and picked up (see locations below).

All students who drive a vehicle to Miller Career & Technology Center (MCTC) must display a MCTC permit on the front lower right (interior passenger side) window. Payment and application for a permit is required in Pay 'N Go BEFORE driving to MCTC. Please note: Students who drive a vehicle without a permit will be fined.

Instructions:

1. Pay the $10.00 permit fee through Pay 'N Go. Write down your confirmation number.
2. Complete the 24-25 Parking Permit Request form (form requires uploading a copy of student's valid Texas Driver License, proof of current insurance for the vehicle, and Pay 'N Go confirmation #).

• Electronically acknowledge terms of the Parking Agreement (within the Google request form).
• Complete the Permission for Student/Parent-Provided Transportation (within the Google request form).
