BWC (Bulldog Walking Club)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you and your students are getting back into the school routine. As you know, the Bulldog Walking Club has been part of the Shelton Elementary routine for the past nine years. The idea for this great club is to get students active before the start of each school day. In doing so, we hope to help them develop healthier habits and aid them in readying their brains for the day ahead.
First, notice the time. BWC runs rom 7:20 am to 7:50am.
Secondly, we use the Student Lap Tracker system. This system allows for each student to have his or her own card that will be scanned at the end of every lap. The information gathered every morning will be input into a system via the Student Lap Tracker provider. This information will include each student’s mileage walked each day, week and for the entire year.
Thirdly, all elementary students in the building between 7:20am and 7:50am will be required to attend the BWC. If eating breakfast, students will be asked to attend the BWC prior to or after eating.
Fourthly, the student with the most miles walked at the end of the year will be named BWC Walker of the Year. Their name will be engrained on the plaque next to the BWC Bulletin Board. HUGE HONOR!
Yours, in good health,
Mrs. Thober
Character Counts Pledge
As we continue to build a positive and nurturing environment for your children, we are excited to introduce a new initiative aimed at fostering strong character development in our elementary students: The Character Pledge.
The Character Pledge encourages students to embrace values like kindness, respect, responsibility, and integrity. By reciting this pledge daily, we hope to instill these important qualities, helping students grow both academically and personally.
We encourage you to talk to your child about the pledge and what each part means. Together, we can support them in becoming respectful and responsible individuals, both in school and in the community.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Should you have any questions or suggestions regarding this initiative, feel free to reach out.
School Times
School begins at 8:00 am. It is crucial that your child is to school on time! Please work hard during these early years to establish good attendance routines.
