GHS Update

Ms. Young's Culinary Arts team represented GHS extremely well on Friday at the Grayson College Culinary Competition. Melanie Jaramillo and Joseph Fisher finished second place and third place with their pastry entries. Melanie also received a $750 scholarship and Joseph received a $500 scholarship! Both students have been GHS Students of the Month this year, as well. Congratulations to Melanie, Joseph and Ms. Young!

Our students had a great time at the heifer show. Abby and her Maine-Anjou heifer, Dolly, showed on Saturday and placed 15th in a large class. Savannah and her Santa Gertrudis heifer, Dink, showed on Sunday and placed 4th in class. Julissa and her Simmental heifer, Jolene, showed on Monday and placed 5th in class. Braylon and his Chianina heifer, Rhea, showed on Monday and placed 8th in a large class.

Lockheed Martin Electrical Engineer, Jeff Perkins (Ms. Perkins' husband) who works with NASA on the Artemis Missions, spoke about career opportunities at the GHS Lunch and Learn on Friday. It was organized by Mr. Hill and Mr. Freeman. He spoke of opportunities that are available with other companies that subcontract with Lockheed Martin. The number of people that are working on this Artemis Project is outstanding with many job opportunities for students in our area.
