Students Display Creativity at Art Show
Close to 150 students from Daniel Wright exhibited artwork at the 44th Annual Stevenson High School Consortium Art Fest. It is an amazing show that celebrates the exceptional artwork of so many students.

Science Bowl Competes in DC
Last weekend, the Daniel Wright Science Bowl team represented Illinois from the National Lab Division, Argonne Regional in the National Science Bowl. Out of thousands of students competing nationwide, Daniel Wright won the opportunity to compete with 48 teams in our Nation's Capital. During the competition, the team visited the National Mall, met Department of Energy scientists, engineers, government representatives, and students from around the country. They competed in a cyber challenge that challenged the computer coding skills and had several other fun science based competitions. The students represented Daniel Wright showing all our Wright Way skills of being respectful, responsible, and positivity. The students that represented DW were Ananya Iyer, Sanjay Senthilnathan, Abhinav Sathamraju Venkata, and Royce Zhang. They were coached by Anthony Hafner and Maggie Patel.
Wreath Laying
Four DW students, Emmi Nowakowski, Jainna Krier, Finn Moles, and Hannah Baker, were honored recently with the wreath laying at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia when they visited Washington, D.C., as part of their eighth-grade field trip. They were chosen based on an essay they wrote about the experience.
Scholastic Bowl Competes at Sectionals
The state series Scholastic Bowl team ended their season this week at sectionals with fierce competition. After a five question tie breaker round, our Warriors fell into second place. It was a great season for the team!
The team is coached by Jan Lamberti and Allyson Ward. Members of the team are Neil Malpani, Arjun Rajkumar, Rishi Vasireddy, Shawn Ye, Eric Xiong, Brendan Kim, Shankar Harikrishnan, Chandresh Gopal, and Nicholas Tsirline.
Strep Throat Cases
Daniel Wright continues to experience a Strep Throat Cluster. If the nurse calls you to inform you that your student has strep symptoms, please take it seriously and test for strep. Daniel Wright's cases are still rising. The school has been diligent about cleaning and capping drinking fountains. Please help us keep Daniel Wright healthy.
Volunteers Sought for Discipline Committee
8th-Grade Dance
The eighth-grade dance takes place Friday, May 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Daniel Wright. Students should register for the dance through the PTO website, DWpalooza.
Partnerships
8th-Grade Pool Party
The PTO is excited to invite all eighth-grade students to a pool party on Thursday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to to 2 p.m. at the Lincolnshire Swim Club, 2 Yorkshire Drive, Lincolnshire. The admission cost is $15 online per student but increases to $20 at the door. The event includes unlimited swimming, a DJ, pizza, drinks, and Kona Ice. RSVP is required and attendees must agree to the liability waiver. Participants are advised to wear swimsuits, bring towels, and prepare for an outdoor event. In case of rain, a new date will be announced.

Volunteer Nominations
The PTO would like to recognize District 103 volunteers who have dedicated his or her time and talents to our schools!
The "Scott S. Guziec Volunteer of the Year Award" recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has truly gone above and beyond this school year. Anyone may nominate a deserving person for this award. All nominees and nominators remain confidential; however, nominations cannot be made anonymously.
The "Dawn Anderson Volunteer Angel Award" is awarded to an exceptional individual who has made a huge impact through volunteering within the schools over many years and whose youngest child is an eighth-grader graduating from the district.

Stevenson High School's Polish Club is inviting all for a night of fun on Friday, May 3! At this event, everyone of all backgrounds is welcome to come and dance to authentic Disco Polo music, delight in varieties of Polish foods and desserts, and enjoy fun activities like face painting, Polish trivia, musical chairs, and more! Girls Flag Football
Discover the exhilarating world of Girls Flag Football, a sport rapidly gaining momentum in Illinois and nationwide! Stevenson PREP is thrilled to introduce our first-ever girls feeder flag football teams, igniting passion and camaraderie on the field. Join us for an unforgettable journey as our SHS girls feeder flag football program takes the stage, competing in the esteemed Chicagoland Youth Football League. With games scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the fall, the excitement knows no bounds. Practices kick off on Monday, July 22, offering flexible weekday sessions mostly after 6 p.m.

Center for Gifted Classes
The Center for Gifted is offering an exciting program for sixth- through eighth-graders to supplement our own Camp 103 Club this summer. Science Spectacular, an in-depth, immersion lab experience, will run Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, July 3, at Daniel Wright, weekdays 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Course content will incorporate a chemistry lab, biological explorations, and an electronics lab, all hands-on and sure to challenge and inspire! Stevenson High School is offering a development hockey skills sessions for incoming eighth-graders in preparation for the fall hockey season with a focus on building strength, skills, and chemistry in teammates.
