Week of November 4th
Halloween Dance Fun!
Go Green - No Missing Assignments
We celebrated Go Green this week to encourage students to stay current on their assignments. 49% of our student body qualified for Halloween Cookies at the end of the day on 10/31, courtesy of Mrs. Parker.
Honor Club Field Trip
This past week our Honor Club traveled to the Kalamazoo Civic Center to see Finding Nemo as a live performance. Our students enjoyed the trip and the performance. Thank you, Mrs. Churchill for organizing the trip.
Student of the Month - Valeria Gonzalez Maltos
The student of the Month for November is Valeria Gonzalez Maltos a 7th grader at Coloma Junior High. Valeria is a quiet leader. Everyone may not realize that she is an exceptional student. They may not realize how hard she works. Valeria is a member of Student Council and Honor Club. She is willing to help in all ways. She comes early, she stays late, and she is willing to give up lunch time with friends to make our school a better place. She is a person that everyone wants to work with because she is dependable, kind, and makes everyone feel like they are important.
Valeria's favorite subject is Math and when she grows up she wants to be a lawyer. Her favorite thing about the Junior High is the school events and outside of school she enjoys going to the park. Congratulations Valeria!
Transportation Changes and Notifications
If you need to notify your child of their end of the day transportation, please contact the office no later than 2:00pm. The main office is a very busy place at the end of the day, this allows us time to ensure that your child receives the message.
Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Michigan
The Children's Advocacy Center will be on campus on the following dates for our grade levels.
- 6th Graders - will receive the information in their Health classes on 10/28 and 10/29 or 11/12 and 11/14.
- 7th and 8th graders - will receive the information in their Social Studies classes on 11/4 and 11/5.
These lessons are designed to educate and empower teens to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, relationship abuse, digital abuse, and other digital dangers, in an age-appropriate manner. If you have questions, or would like to review the curriculum, it is available at www.mbfpreventioneducation.org.
If you have additional questions, please contact the main office.
Study Hall at the Junior High
The Junior High runs Study Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Study Hall is supervised by our certified teachers that are able to support a variety of subjects. There is no cost to attend and no sign up required. Students only need to have their own transportation home at 4:05.
For safety reasons, all students will sign in each afternoon and unless prior arrangements are made they will remain in the classroom until dismissal at 4:05.
Students can use this as a safe and supervised place to work on homework, receive extra help, utilize internet to complete projects, or wait for transportation. All JH students are welcome to attend.
