Bucket Drumming!
5th Grade students learned about Bucket Drumming this week with Ms. McCarthy. It was loud, but very fun!
5th Grade Science News
We’re thrilled to announce a collaboration with the Hitchcock Center for the Environment in Amherst happening in November. Thanks to a generous grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, all 5th graders will take part in four engineering and design challenges that aim to foster creative solutions, develop teamwork skills, and cultivate STEM identity. Students will take part in three classroom workshops and one field trip to the Hitchcock Center. In addition, students, teachers and Hitchcock educators will team up to create Climate Action Plans to address climate change in their community.
Congratulations!

PTO Monster Mash
Once again, the amazing WMS PTO will host a Monster Mash complete with Haunter Locker Room! Please remember, Behavior Contracts are required for this event. Contracts will go home today and are due back Monday, 9/30. If your student is absent, we will give them an extension to Tuesday. As a reminder, Behavior Contracts encourage responsibility on the part of the students, like completing classwork, treating each other kindly and being respectful. We look forward to this annual event!

Teacher Spotlight
Meet Ms. McCarthy, Music teacher at WMS!
This is Ms. McCarthy’s first year in Ware Public Schools. She recently moved from Southeastern CT to teach at 4th-6th grade music at Ware Middle School and 7th and 8th grade music at Ware Junior Senior High School.
Ms. McCarthy graduated from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam in 2023, receiving a bachelor’s in music education. She previously taught at Shepard Hill Elementary School in Plainfield, CT, working with K-3rd grade students. She has enjoyed getting to know the students and creating music with them, (even if the bucket drumming is super loud)!
