CHS Weekly Update #29
March 10, 2025
Last Week of 3rd Quarter
Dear Warrior Families:
Happy Monday and last week of 3rd quarter!!! This past week, we kicked off our spring sports with hard fought battles on the soccer field, the baseball field, the lacrosse fields, the track arena, and the tennis court. Golf will kick off today as well! Congratulations to our athletes and coaches who have been practicing for the past two weeks!!
I would also like to recognize the students and staff involved in our spring musical, Anastasia. It was INCREDIBLE!!!! The students were on point, the pit orchestra was amazing, the dramatic effects were so professionally done, and our directors were clearly setting a high bar for our students. There was a packed house all three days, and the entire production was just outstanding! This is probably one of the best productions ever done at CHS!!!! Congratulations to all our performers and directors.
One of our ELA teachers and former Speech/Debate coach, Tony Bichler, also shared this with me: "Please join me in congratulating CHS senior Yishai Trowbridge who won the speech contest held at the Clifton Lions Club last week. Also representing CHS were seniors James Walker and Ty Wells. Speaking on the subject of embracing a we-serve mindset, all performed admirably." I am so excited for these students as well!!! Job well done!!! Yishai will advance to the Western Slope District Finals in Meeker at the end of the month, and if he moves on from there, he could compete at State in Denver in May. Go Warriors!
I also want to thank our incredible staff, teachers, School Resource Officers, students, parents, district leadership, the crisis team, and the D51 Security team for all of their support and efforts to help with the tragedy that occurred last Monday. We are sincerely grateful for everything you did to make the day as calm and organized as possible in the midst of a very hard situation. Our hearts go out to the families of all of those impacted from this accident. We would also like to thank the D51 Foundation and the Dietrichs for providing food this morning for our staff. The support and positive messages from our community has been very much appreciated and very humbling.
Here are a couple of announcements and reminders (some are carried over from the last 2 weeks):
1. Buy Your Yearbooks: From our Yearbook STAFF...This year's yearbook is bigger and better than ever. We went up to trim size 9 (the biggest yearbook size) and the yearbook staff worked hard to ensure coverage of each and every student at CHS. We pride ourselves on taking high quality photos and covering the events of the school year, preserving those memories for years to come. Don't forget to order a yearbook for your student. You can order at this link: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1008853/Central-High-School/
2. Academic and Athletic Booster Clubs: We are currently seeking members to be part of our 2 new Parent Booster Clubs forming at Central. We need involved parents to help with our Academic Booster Club and our Athletic Booster Club. We will have our next meeting toward the end of April, but please email me your name, best way to contact you (both email and cell #), your student name/grade level, and which group you would be willing to serve on. We need your voices and involvement!!! (tracy.arledge@d51schools.org)
3. Testing: Please call the front office or the counseling office if you would like to opt your student out of testing (970-254-6200), OR stop by the front office to pick up a form. You may also call to request that an electronic version be sent to your email, and you can sign and return the via email. Again, our hope is that as many students test and show their knowledge, but if a student is not planning to test, we need to account for them with the proper forms. There will be a schoolwide practice PSAT/SAT test on April 1st with a modified schedule so that we can identify or troubleshoot any technical difficulties. Teachers will also use the results of this test to identify any potential gaps or areas that need to be reviewed before testing.
Thank you for your continued support of Central High School and please know how important your involvement is to the success of your learners. Please continue to monitor your learners' progress through Parent View and reach out to teachers, counselors, or administrators if you need support or have any questions. I hope you have a wonderful week and a very restful spring break!!
Warm Regards,
Tracy
