Grizzly Gazette
April 2025
Grijalva Family and Friends
We are off to a wonderful start to our 4th quarter!
The month of April will bring State Testing to our Grizzlies. The students, teachers, and staff have worked tirelessly to get ready for these assessments and our students are ready to show what they know. We need your help to ensure the kids do well. It is important that students arrive on time and are at school every day, especially during testing times. Please try to make any routine appointments after school or as late as possible in the afternoons during testing. Please make every effort to be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a good breakfast, and has a positive start to his or her day. Research has shown that these three areas make a big difference on how a child does in stressful situations. Assessments can cause a lot of stress in some children. Encourage your students to do their best and let’s give our Grizzlies every opportunity to be successful!
The state requires specific grade level students to test, all tests will be taken on the computer. Please also remind your child(ren) to wear their glasses if they need them. All students in grades 3rd - 5th must take the Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) each year. State testing allows our students to show all that they have learned throughout the school year. It is important that every student takes these tests and tries their best. It is time for the end of year Dibels Assessment of Reading for Grades Kindergarten - 3rd! Students are tested to see how well they can sound out and identify word parts as well as their overall reading fluency.
Morning Schedule: The first bell rings at 7:40 and our teachers take attendance precisely at 7:45. Students arriving after 7:45 should check in with the office staff before going to class. For the safety of your child, please do not arrive prior to 7:20, the cafeteria breakfast and our playground do not have student supervision prior to 7:20.
Have or know a kindergarten age student? Please help us recruit for the 25-26 school year! Registration: 2025-2026 registration is now open on ParentVUE! Yearly registration confirms that Grijalva has the most up-to-date information for your child’s success in school. Parents must re-register for the upcoming school year! Please go to ParentVUE and enroll for 2025-2026! Remember we need you to attach your proof of residency and any documents that are required for registration. Please call the office (520-908-3600) if you need assistance accessing your ParentVUE account.
Tax Credit: Don’t forget to make your tax credit contribution to Grijalva! Tax credit dollars fund academic programs, sports, fine arts, field trips, tutoring, and for a short time capital school improvements. We are very thankful and appreciative of your tax credit support. You can still donate for 2024.
