Announcing...Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet
We are excited to announce our 2025 Wells Reads One Book. This year we will be reading Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet by Zanib Mian. The Wells PTA has provided each family a copy of the book and a reading schedule bookmark. Read the book together as a family or watch the reading videos linked below. Guest readers have recorded themselves reading the book aloud. Each day we have optional discussion questions and activities posted with the reading videos. We have an additional writing challenge for students with a chance to win a prize. Read through the information below for more details!

Writing Contest - Two Choices
Family Tradition
Think about a special tradition your family celebrates. It could be a holiday, a birthday, or something unique to your family! Write about how you celebrate it. What makes it special? What do you do together? How does it make you feel?
Share the details and memories that make this tradition meaningful to you!
Design a Dragon
Design your own dragon! What does it look like? Give it a name and describe its special features. Then, write a story about a day in the life of your dragon. Where does it live? What does it do? Add illustrations to show us your dragon in action! Have fun creating your magical dragon!

Complete Activities for a Chance to Win a Prize
Each daily reading has an optional activity posted in the reading schedule (linked above). For every activity completed and turned in to the PTA bin in the library, your name will be entered in the raffle drawing. Winners will be announced at the assembly on March 14th and the prizes provided by PTA will be awarded that day!
Wells Reading Minutes Challenge
The Wells At-Home Reading Minutes Challenge will be from February 22 to March 7, 2025. How many minutes at home can your child read? Any book counts towards your reading minutes!
After completion of the entire 14 day challenge (March 7th), submit your student's FINAL total reading minutes through the links below by 9 p.m. on Monday, March 10th to be qualified for the school-wide challenge. 3rd - 5th graders can self-report their minutes through the links to the Google Forms in their respective Google Classrooms.
The top three individuals with the most minutes read in each class will be recognized in their classes.We will announce grade-level individual and group winners during the whole school assembly on March 14th.

Zanib Mian
ZANIB MIAN is an accomplished children’s author whose books have featured on BBC’s Cbeebies Bedtime Stories and The Guardian for their contribution to diversity in children’s literature. Zanib studied Molecular Cell Biology at University College London and went on to teach Science in secondary schools before she made the decision to give up the career to create change within children’s publishing. She felt that diverse characters from all minorities and backgrounds weren’t being fully represented in books for young children.
