Principal's Newsletter
Spicewood Elementary
November 15, 2024
Hello Spicewood Families,
It has been a fun and action packed week at Spicewood! We had several events on campus that showcased our students compassion, knowledge, and citizenship. Our teachers have been working hard with our students on field trip preparations, assessments, and project completions! We have one more busy week ahead before our break.
A quick thank you for your attentiveness in the car rider line and for the improvement in the number of students arriving tardy each day. We appreciate you helping us get students to and from school safely and on time!
One last thing! I would like to draw your attention to the flyer below in regards to the Canned Food Drive. This is a student led initiative and we would love to support their advocacy and desire to give. There is a donation container in the front foyer to collect canned and non-perishable food items. Please bring in donations by the due date of November 20th.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Melanie Solis

TAG Referral Window is Now Open! Due by Dec. 13th- No Exceptions!
TAG Referral Information
Each year Round Rock ISD has open registration to refer a student for gifted services. You might be asking yourself if this is a good fit for your child. Our service model provides an array of learning opportunities for students who show advanced ability or potential in comparison to students of the same age, experience, and environment. If your child seems to exceed the expectations in their current grade level at their school or amongst their peers, you might consider referring them for the assessment process.
Gifted learners are not just accelerated in their mastery of content. You can visit the RRISD webpage to learn more about characteristics that are common in students who receive gifted services.
After reviewing these characteristics, if you feel your child might be a good candidate for these services, please refer your student for testing by December 13th at 4:30 pm. No late referrals will be accepted. You can access the referral link on the RRISD Advanced Academics TAG website or on our TAG website.
