OCTOBER 30, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
October wraps up tomorrow and November arrives on Friday…and it was 68 degrees this morning when I walked my dog! I am not sure what to make of the weather so far this fall. However, I am sure that tomorrow is Halloween, and many families participate in a variety of Halloween-inspired activities. Please remind your student(s) that we do not celebrate Halloween during the school-day. Costumes and props are not allowed at school tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we host our annual MnACC College Fair. Teachers have been invited to sign up and bring their classes to this on-site college fair. We will have representatives from 50+ colleges and universities (tech, 2-year and 4-year schools). Each year, students share that they value and appreciate this opportunity to connect with and learn about collegiate post-secondary options.
I want to remind families that there is no school for students this Friday, November 1. Our staff will be engaging in professional learning. Our focus will be on collaborating and designing for higher levels of engagement that ultimately lead to enhanced post-secondary readiness for each of our students.
As student explore potential paths after high school, I want to invite families to join us on November 13 for parent teacher conferences AND our Find Your Future event. Information on signing up for conferences is below in the Need to Know section and more about the Find Your Future event in the College and Career section of this newsletter. I am looking forward to connecting with many families on November 13.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership – one school, one community, #SLPPantherProud!
Matthew Boucher,
Principal
Evening Conference Opportunity, Nov. 13
SLPHS families are welcome to join us for evening conferences on Wednesday, November 13 from 3:30-6 p.m. If you were unable to attend a conference session in October, this is an additional opportunity to meet with your student's teacher.
To find available times for your student's teacher(s), visit the SLPHS conference page and expand the options to select the name of the teacher. You'll then be directed to our Bookings site where you'll be prompted to select a date and time on conference days for those teachers. You can choose either a phone, WebEx, or in-person conference with their student’s teachers. If you are booking on your phone, swipe left to see the full list of teacher names in each category.
Issues with MyStop app
If you have bus riders in your household and use the MyStop app, please be aware that the app is experiencing issues. Due to a software configuration problem, the MyStop app (that provides real time bus route information) is not functioning properly. All of the entities that support the app are actively working to correct the problem. Transportation will notify bus riding families when the issues has been resolved. Thank you for your patience. Any questions can be directed to transportation@district16.org.
