Williams Parent Bulletin
May 2024
Busy May on the way!
We have half a trimester left of school, making this the perfect time to thank our community for teaming up with us to help support our Wildcats. It's been quite an adventure but we could not have gotten this far without your help...we appreciate all of you
As usual, there will be a lot going on this month starting with conferences, state testing and Mental Health Awareness Week (see spirit week calendar below). There will be many parent engagement opportunities for you to participate in during the months of May and June. A few upcoming events include: Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences, TK & K dance performances, Cafecito meeting, music assemblies, PTA meeting, May movie night and our popular T3 Family Picnic. After all of this excitement, we will have another fun packed month in June too. The LAST DAY of school will be Tuesday, June 18th.
This month, we will also be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week May 6-10. We invite our students to participate in the following events meant to celebrate our teachers this week:
- Monday, 05/06: You help us grow! - Bring your teacher a flower or a plant.
- Tuesday, 05/07: You are the sweetest! - Bring your teacher a sweet treat.
- Wednesday, 05/08: Thank a teacher! - Write your teacher a note or bring them a card.
- Thursday, 05/09: You feed my creativity! - Draw your teacher a picture.
- Friday, 05/10: I can do anything! - Free-choice gift for your teacher.
Before you go, please check out our updated Twitter, Facebook and Instagram social media accounts at the bottom of this month's bulletin. Thank you for your partnership in supporting student learning and school safety!

FREE-DRESS FUN FRIDAYS
Even though school uniforms are required Monday-Thursday, our Wildcats are able to show off their personalities on Free-Dress Fun Fridays. Please follow these basic guidelines, so we don't lose this Friday privilege.

DO YOUR BEST ON THE STATE TEST!
Please help motivate and support our 3rd-5th grade Wildcats as they participate in CAASPP state testing from May 7-17. Families can help by ensuring that they get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast and by reminding them to bring their FULLY charged computers to school every day. Students will be tested on language arts during the first week of testing and mathematics the following week. Thank you for your help and support!
TK & K REGISTGRATION NOW OPEN
Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is OPEN NOW. For more information, please watch this video link and visit the district website: http://tinyurl.com/94nz7u9e
GET TO SCHOOL ON TIME!
Please remember that students are tardy if they are not in their classroom line or seated in class by 8:00 AM. In an effort to improve tardies on campus, we will begin closing the blue doors on the side of the school closer to 8:00 AM. Please help our Wildcats, especially those that are participating in state testing, to arrive to school between 7:30-7:55 AM. This way, they'll have time to eat breakfast and/or walk to the blacktop before their class is picked up.
5TH GRADERS
Please note that Williams 5th graders moving on to Blackstock Jr. High School next year, DO NOT need to re-register at the jr. high school. Since we're in the same district, we will be transferring their school files over to Blackstock over the summer. You will receive an orientation packet in the summer which parents will need to fill out before attending orientation in August. ONLY students moving outside of our district, will need to register at their new school.
ATTENDANCE WINNERS!
Williams has made it a goal to improve schoolwide attendance to a 95% average. It is going to take an effort by all grade levels to make this happen. We have a competition going on for best attendance. Grade level team winners have been rewarded with special treats and principal's recess opportunities.
WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR SCHOOL WINNER FOR BEST ATTENDANCE IN MARCH 2024 WAS...4TH GRADE!
CHARACTER COUNTS - CITIZENSHIP
During the month of May, we'll be celebrating the character trait of "citizenship." Please feel free to wear a top/shirt of any shade of PURPLE on Character Counts Fridays this month.
Citizenship: Help make things better • Respect authority and obey laws • Protect the environment • Be active in the community
PARKING LOT SAFETY
School staff will follow the parking lot closure schedule below. During closure times, ONLY staff with a Williams staff permit and drivers with handicapped placards will be allowed into the parking lot. Please plan on dropping off/picking up your child at the Anchorage Street curb during busy traffic times.
- AT ARRIVAL: Pause for pedestrians from 7:45-8:00 AM (M-F)
- AT DISMISSAL: Closed from 2:15-2:40 PM (M/T/Th/F)
- EARLY DISMISSAL WEDNESDAY: Closed from 12:25-12:55 PM
It is essential that we continue having your support in order to maintain safe and orderly student drop-offs & pick-ups. We call on our Williams community to help us avoid the following unsafe driving behaviors. PLEASE DO NOT:
- Drop-off your child in the middle of the street. Please take the time to pull over to the curb.
- Stay in your car and yell at your child to cross through lanes of traffic to get to you.
- Leave your car in the middle of the street without a driver.
- Make u-turns in front of the school during high traffic times.
- Use profanity and yell at other drivers. Our students hear and see everything we do out there.
