Bluejacket Family Communication
September 19, 2024
Dear Bluejacket Families
As the new school year kicks off, I want to start by saying thank you, thank you, thank you! The excitement in our schools is real, and learning is in full swing. It's normal for your children to come home tired — they’re busy, engaged, and building new routines that will carry them through the year.
Our focus remains clear: to educate, empower, and inspire every student, every day. We know that each student is unique, and we’re committed to nurturing their strengths and interests. When students have choices in how they learn, they become more engaged and take greater ownership of their education. We aim to spark curiosity and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
We value the partnership between families and our schools. If you have any thoughts, questions, or concerns about your child’s school experience, I encourage you to reach out to their teacher. Your insights help us better support your child’s growth. Together, we can encourage them to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education. We’re excited about the year ahead and all the opportunities it brings.

Superintendent
Safety & Security Protocols
Ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority. This summer, we worked to further strengthen our safety procedures and align with best practices. From keeping our exterior doors locked during school hours to regular emergency drills, these updates help us create a secure and welcoming environment for everyone. For more information, you can review the details we shared in our Fall Forward Back-to-School email series. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our schools safe.
Homecoming Week Information
Test of the Emergency Notification System
A test of our Emergency Notification System is scheduled for October 17 at noon (Thursday of MEA Break). Please be on the lookout for this test, and thank you for helping us ensure our communication systems are ready and effective.
Gratitude: Back-to-School Donations
We have an extremely supportive community that has donated thousands of dollars worth of supplies for students, families, staff, and our schools this fall. Local organizations, community groups, and many families have donated everything from basic school supplies to brand-new backpacks to snacks for classrooms. In addition, several local businesses donated welcoming coffee and pastries for our nearly 1,000 employees during our Back to School Kickoff Event. Thank you to all of our donors and community members for your incredibly generous support!

Welcome New Teachers & Staff!
This year, we’re excited to welcome so many new staff and teachers to our team. These educators bring fresh energy and ideas to our schools, and we’re thrilled to have them join us. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome and let them know, “It’s always a great day to be a Bluejacket!”
Minnesota School Board Recognition Month
In September 2024, we’re celebrating Minnesota School Board Recognition Month, sponsored by the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA). This year’s theme is “Public School Boards Have Heart,” and it highlights the deep commitment school board members have to ensuring the success of public school students across Minnesota.
Please join us in recognizing and thanking our Cambridge-Isanti School Board members for their service and dedication to our schools and students!
Strategic Plan Update
In 2022, a task force composed of community members, parents, staff, and district leaders came together to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for our district. In addition to shaping the plan, the group recommended revising our district’s mission statement to better reflect the values and desires of our community: The mission of Cambridge-Isanti Schools, in partnership with the community, is to EDUCATE, EMPOWER, and INSPIRE EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY to reach their full potential.
We are now in the second year of implementing this strategic plan, which is built around four key priorities:
Ensure student academic growth and success
Foster positive personal relationships
Improve the mental health and well-being of all students and staff
Partner to support the growth of the school district
In preparation for our return this fall, we concentrated our leadership professional development on advancing these priorities. Our leaders have embedded these priorities into their professional goals, ensuring that progress continues to move forward. Many districts create strategic plans but struggle with implementation. We are proud that by embedding the strategic plan into our leaders' goals and workplans, we are not only staying on course but also maintaining momentum.
The strategic plan serves as a roadmap, guiding how we allocate resources and make decisions. During our Back-to-School opener for staff, we centered this discussion, reinforcing its importance and aligning our efforts for the year ahead. We are excited about the direction this plan is taking our district and the long-term impact it will have on our community, students, and future graduates.
