Fowlerville Elementary School to Open Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Fowlerville Elementary School will welcome our K-2 students into the new building for the first time. The first couple of weeks will be a soft start as staff are familiarizing students with the new building. Academics will continue, while also practicing safety drills in their new spaces. The goal is to make sure students feel comfortable and confident in their new learning environment.
We want to thank our staff for making the move to the new building so easy. In addition, we need to thank our maintenance and custodial staff for all they have done to assist teachers and help prepare the building for students. Finally, a special thanks to the Fowlerville VFW for donating flags for all of our new classrooms.
As a reminder, with the opening, we have new traffic patterns for pick-up and drop-off. We appreciate your cooperation in following these new procedures so we can keep all of our students and staff safe as they enter and exit their buildings daily.
H.T. Smith Building Renovations to Begin
Following our K-2 students and staff departure at H.T. Smith Elementary, the construction team will immediately begin remodeling the current Kindergarten and first grade classrooms to make way for the Little Glad Early Childhood Center's move into the building slated for late this summer. Renovations will occur to the main entrance, office, and former Kindergarten and first grade classrooms. In addition, upgrades to the electrical and HVAC systems including air conditioning will also take place. After Little Glads' moves into the H.T. Smith Building, the construction team will begin the demolition of Munn. These renovations are made possible by the generous support of our community with the passage of the November 2021 $41.9 million dollar bond.
Community Recreation Agreement Update in Progress
On December 31, 2024, the current Community Recreation agreement expired. The agreement between Fowlerville Community Schools, the Village of Fowlerville, the Township of Iosco, the Township of Cohoctah, the Township of Conway, and the Township of Handy had been in place since February 20, 2018. While the agreement has expired, participants won’t see any changes to programming or fees. The district and the municipalities are currently negotiating a new agreement with the hope of having it in place by the end of this school year.
