ADMINISTRATION
Jaguar Families,
The year seems to be flying by! This coming week is the last week in the third quarter. We have two minimum days on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, for end of term culminating academic activities. March 17-21 is Spring Break with NO SCHOOL. I hope the time affords you a chance to do something together to make special memories or provide a chance for needed rest. When we return for the 4th quarter on Monday, March 24, it is a REVERSE MINIMUM DAY for Staff Professional Development and to prepare for a new term. All special bell schedules are below.

RAMADAN GUIDANCE EGUSD
Guidance from the EGUSD Department of Communications Supporting Muslim Students and Staff During Ramadan
- Purpose: The following (attached pdf) guidance aims to raise awareness and ensure support for Muslim students and staff observing in Ramadan.
- When: February 28 - March 29, 2025 (shifts annually with the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar)

SPRING PICTURE DAY
8th Grade students will take Promotion Pictures on Tuesday, April 8th. These photos will be printed on student's promotion certificates. The preorder code for Promotion pictures will be sent home before Promotion pictures.
8th GRADE PROMOTION
Toby Johnson 8th grade promoting students will be celebrated with a promotion ceremony on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The ceremony will take place in the Franklin High School Gym. Ceremonies will be held by team. Mark your calendar and keep an eye on your email, more information will be sent home in the coming weeks.

TJMS 8th Grade End of Year Activities AND Promotion Details!
8th Grade Jaguar Families,
End of the year 8th Grade activities can be a big deal for students and families and we don't want you to miss any of it. For information about ALL end of the year 8th Grade events, including Social Events (No Activities List applies) AND the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony (specific eligibility criteria apply), please open and read both attachments below.
PBIS FOCUS
We will continue to teach and reinforce our 4 core values in all locations on campus with a specific focus on respect. PBIS lessons will focus on maintaining a positive or neutral attitude, remembering that all behaviors have an appropriate Time & Place, and treating others the way you want to be treated. Teachers will reward students who are meeting our core values by handing out Jag Swag. Families can continue the conversation at home by talking about the importance of respect at home and in the community.
JAG SWAG PULL
We will not have a Jag Swag pull this week as it is finals week. Please save your Jag Swag for after Spring Break.

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE applications are now accepted for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Parents/Students must use the Home Campus website to complete the application. A new online Athletic Clearance is needed every academic year.

Toby Johnson Middle School Sentinel Rock Team to Compete for National Title
Out of 700 middle school teams, only 3 remain in the race for the National Champion title at CyberPatriot-17! Huge congratulations to the Sentinel Rock team from Toby Johnson Middle School for making it to the finals! Best of luck as you compete for the crown!

Varsity Tutors for Schools
Elk Grove Unified is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Varsity Tutors for Schools, a leading platform for live online tutoring at no cost to EGUSD students and families. When students need help with homework or are struggling to solve a problem, they can immediately chat with a tutor, 24/7, to get the help they need. Students can take practice tests and follow personal lesson plans for guided self-study. They can also sign up for expert-led live classes, and learn subjects like geometry, middle school math, elementary school reading and more, alongside their peers. The Varsity Tutors for School platform is now visible in the EGUSD student portal.
Empowered Parents (English Parent/Caregiver Workshop & Support Series)
This is a six-week program for English-speaking parents and caregivers, focusing on topics such as setting boundaries, discipline, connection, communication, coping skills, self-care, anxiety, and depression. Sessions will be held at Batey Elementary on January 15 and 29, February 5 and 19, and March 5 and 12, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
