Cedar Hill Football Drops An Overtime Nailbiter at Lancaster
The Cedar Hill High School Football Team played its first overtime again since a 27-24 victory over Rockwall Heath in the UIL Class Class 6A Division II State Quarterfinals.
This time, the Longhorns (2-3, 1-1) lost 41-35 in the extra session at Lancaster -- Cedar Hill's fourth road game in five weeks.
Cedar Hill senior quarterback Tamarion Crochett completed 14 of 27 passes for 141 yards, a touchdown and an interception. It was his third 100+ yard passing game this season.
The Longhorns outrushed the Tigers (2-3, 2-0), 253-162, with CJ Castleberry (17 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown) leading the way.
Juelz Carter rushed for 80 yards, and defensive lineman Jalen Brewster doubled as a running back, with nine carries for 58 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. Brewster now has four rushing touchdowns on the season.
Cedric Mills caught four passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. He now has 21 receptions for 257 yards and four touchdowns.
Cedar Hill scored more than 30 points for the third time in five games.
After a bye week, Cedar Hill will host Mesquite (2-3, 1-1) for Homecoming on Friday, October 11.

Cedar Hill Volleyball Sweeps Lancaster, 3-0
The Cedar Hill High School Volleyball Team defeated Lancaster, 3-0, after losing to District 6A-11 Leader, Waxahachie, 3-0, earlier in the week.
The Lady Longhorns (21-7, 3-2) will round out the first half of District 6A-11 Competition by visiting DeSoto on Tuesday and Duncanville on Friday.
Cedar Hill will look to defeat DeSoto (17-13, 3-2) for the first time since 2018. Duncanville is much improved this season at 16-15, 3-2.
Both matches will go a long way in determining who reaches the playoffs this season.

Cedar Hill Boys Cross Country Finishes 13 of 47 Teams at Gaston Invitational
The Cedar Hill High School Boys Cross Country Team finished 13th out of 47 schools at the Ken Gaston Invitational at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
It was the team's final meet before the District 6A-11 Championship Meet on Thursday, October 10 in Waxahachie.
Messiyah Forte finished 24th of 382 competitors in 16:41.8 -- eight seconds away from the school record that Bruce Turner set last fall. Elgrie Hurd and Kingston Jackson finished 78th and 79th, respectively.
Cedar Hill Tennis Defeats Skyline, 18-1
The Cedar Hill High School Tennis Team defeated Dallas Skyline, 18-1, last Tuesday.
Tessa Bui, Kyla Jacobs, Carrington Lewis, Ariela Torres, Jasmine Crawford, Grace Sosa won Girls Singles Matches, and Luis Garcia, Omar Arteaga, Alan Serrano, Alexander Piggatt, Jamaud Jackson, Isaiah Jefferson won Boys Singles Matches.
The Girls Doubles Teams of Bui/Jacobs, Lewis/Crawford and Sosa/Sims were victorious, as were the Boys Doubles Teams of Arteaga/Piggatt and Jackson/Joe Mendoza.
Torres and Jefferson won a Mixed Doubles Match.
Cedar Hill (5-2) will visit Duncanville tomorrow.

Cedar Hill ISD Football Alumni
- Illinois wide receiver Zakhari Franklin caught four passes for a team-high 49 yards in a 21-7 loss at Penn State. Illinois (4-1) will host Purdue on October 12.
- Tulsa wide receiver/returner Kamdyn Benjamin caught seven passes for a team-high 68 yards in a 52-20 loss at North Texas. The Golden Hurricane (2-3) will host Army on Saturday.
- Sam Houston punter Jadon Cardell had three punts for 133 yards (44.3 yard average) in a 40-39 win over Texas State at NRG Stadium in Houston. The Bearkats (4-1) will visit UTEP on Thursday.
- Texas Tech defensive lineman Harvey Dyson III made a tackle in the Red Raiders' 44-41 win over Cincinnati. The Red Raiders (4-1) will visit Arizona on Saturday.
