De Leon NJHS Brings Awareness to Childhood Cancer
Throughout September, De Leon Middle School's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) led the charge in raising awareness for Childhood Cancer by wearing gold every Friday. Students and staff united in this meaningful cause, showing their support and spreading awareness. Thank you, Lions, for making a difference and standing #DeLeonLionsStrongerTogether!
De Leon Middle School Celebrated Freedom Week
During the week of September 17, De Leon Middle School proudly celebrated Freedom Week, a Texas tradition that highlights the values and ideals on which the United States was founded. Throughout the week, students learned about the intent, meaning, and significance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. They also examined how these founding documents shaped American history. It was a week of reflection and learning as we honored the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The One When⦠16 de Septiembre and Freedom Week Collide!
On the same day we celebrated both 16 de Septiembre and Freedom Week, our amazing teachers showed their spirit in style! One teacher donned a vibrant Mexican dress to honor Hispanic Heritage, while another proudly wore an American flag outfit to celebrate our nationβs values. It was a wonderful day of cultural appreciation and unity at De Leon Middle School!
8th Grade Science Students Explore Squid Dissections
Our 8th-grade science students recently had an exciting hands-on learning experience by dissecting squids in the lab! This activity allowed them to explore marine biology up close, understand the anatomy of squids, and learn more about how these fascinating creatures function. The dissection not only sparked curiosity but also deepened their understanding of biological systems. Great job, future scientists!

De Leon Middle School Theatre Program Celebrates Slam Poetry!
Our 7th and 8th grade mixed theatre classes recently showcased their talent with inspiring Slam Poetry readings! Over three days, students performed powerful pieces from poets like Maya Angelou, Amanda Gorman, and Rudy Francisco.
By inviting faculty to join their performances, our young artists created a meaningful connection with their teachers. Thank you to everyone who supported this incredible event and helped foster a love for the arts at De Leon Middle School!
FCA Huddles Every Friday at the Library!
Join us every Friday at the library for our FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) huddles! Students and coaches gather to share inspiration, faith, and camaraderie. Itβs a great way to connect, grow, and support one another. We look forward to seeing you there!
