BOOTH HILL SCHOOL
March 3, 2025
Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
March has arrived—whether it came in like a lion or a lamb, I think we can all agree that warmer temperatures would be a welcome change!
We wrapped up a busy and exciting week filled with celebrations, including Dr. Seuss' birthday, the Kids Heart Challenge, and our always-popular Father's Club Pancake Palooza. As we keep March-ing forward, there’s plenty ahead—report cards, conferences, the Scholastic Book Fair, and much more.
Hang in there—we’re in the final stretch of the school year!
Warm regards,
Kevin Chase

Instructional Spotlight
So many great things going on at BHS to highlight!
Wings of Fire Book Club!
I'm excited to spotlight a heartwarming initiative from a group of fourth-grade friends (Caitlin, Charlotte, and Finn) who have formed their very own Wings of Fire Book Club. Their shared passion for the series has not only ignited their love for reading but also created a space for rich discussions and collaborative learning. It's inspiring to see these young readers come together, turning every page into an adventure of partnership, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Kids Heart Challenge
Mr. Dwelle organized and lead a celebratory Kids Heart Challenge final day!

2025 Tom Thumb and Lavinia Warren Contest Barnum Festival
The 2025 Tom Thumb and Lavinia Warren Competition of the Barnum Festival will be held on Saturday, April 26th at Vazzano's Four Seasons in Stratford. All 3rd and 4th grade students in the surrounding area are invited to enter the contest. Applications are due to the school no later than Friday, March 7th. Two winners will be selected to represent Middlebrook School at the competition on May 4th. Please use the link for more information and to apply :https://drive.google.com/file/d/11g3OidDO1p6I0KXYwVQEdDDZeOboMWGS/view?usp=sharing
The annual Barnum Festival dates back to 1948 to help support local businesses and honor P.T. Barnum—a world-renowned showman and city leader. The Barnum Festival spans several weeks in an effort to build community spirit, enrich the lives of Bridgeport residents, and give back, culminating in a weekend-long Barnum Palooza that hosts parades, concerts, fireworks, and other family-friendly events. One of the popular events for the children is the Tom Thumb and Lavinia Warren contest.

School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
Please refer to board policy 5113.1 on our website for more information. https://www.trumbullps.org/board-of-education/policy
