STUDENT COUNCIL
"WE CAN, AND WE WILL!"
Student Council kicked off our new school year with a bang. They welcomed the Class of 2027 at the Freshman BBQ, then welcomed the full student body at our Welcome Back assembly, and revealed our theme for the year: "We can, and we will!"
Now, Stuco is hard at work, planning lots of fun activities, including a Morning Tailgate Party and a Color Run (see flyer below). We hope that many of our new and returning students will come to our events, join our Student Council, and get involved in leading our school!
BACK TO SCHOOL PARENT EVENTS
Please join the entire high school, live and in person, on Back to School Night, Tuesday, September 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Meet your student's teachers and counselors, visit the parent organization booths, and get your questions answered. We look forward to seeing every family!
There will also be a virtual Q&A with the principals on Wednesday, September 6, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Join us for an overview of the first few days of school, and ask any and all of your questions.
TIGER SCARVES TO SUPPORT TIGER SOCCER
Friends of Maynard Soccer (FOMS) is a 403(b) non-profit organization supporting recreational and school-based soccer programs, coaches, and athletes in Maynard, including high school and middle school teams, Maynard Youth Soccer, and Maynard futsal. A grassroots fundraising campaign spearhead by FOMS led to the Fowler Fields upgrade. To raise awareness and to promote community, FOMS is selling Maynard Tigers supporter scarves, similar to those worn by fans of MLS, NWSL, and international professional soccer teams. Scarves are $25 and 100% of sales of these scarves goes back to the programs supported by FOMS. To get one for you or your favorite Maynard Tigers fan, contact Amie at amiehesbach@gmail.com.
THE MAYNARD MUSIC ASSOCIATION
The mission of the Maynard Music Association (MMA) is to promote, support, and advocate for exceptional music education for all Maynard High School and Fowler Middle School students.
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
Our Maynard High School PTO was recently recognized by Planet Aid for collecting over 11,000 pounds of usable clothes and shoes in 2022-2023. Let's support our Parent Teacher Organization while doing some good for the planet -- let's see if we can donate even more in 2023-2024!
MAYNARD SEPAC
The mission of the Maynard Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is to work for the understanding of, respect for, and support of all children with special needs in the community.
Maynard SEPAC works in collaboration with MPS community members to:
· Promote a network of parents and forums to share information
· Advise the school district on special education programs, training needs, and policy
· Promote communication between PAC members; local, state and national organizations, councils and groups
· Promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion within the community
· Provide informational forums for parents, students, educators, and professionals
Joining is easy - any community member who attends a SEPAC meeting or event during the year is considered a voting member. There are many ways to contribute and we will work with you to identify something that works with your schedule and responsibilities.
Please reach out to our Public Outreach Coordinator Kim Baldasaro, sepacoutreach@maynard.k12.ma.us with any questions or for more information about joining.
