RESPONSE TO ANTICIPATED HIGH TEMPERATURES
We are closely monitoring the heat that is expected to hit our area next week and making some pre-emptive adjustments to our schedule as a result.
SCHEDULE CHANGES:
The PreK Graduation Ceremony is being moved to 9:45am on Tuesday, June 18th.
The PK-2 Recognition/Moving On Ceremony is being moved to 9:30am on Thursday, June 20th.
We will follow recommended protocols for PE, recess and physical activity based on the heat index and ensure students have access to water throughout these hot days.
We will also be taking steps to reduce the temperature in classrooms, such as drawing in cooler air at night with our vent system, and providing additional fans throughout the building.

5th & 6th Grade Field Days
5th and 6th graders enjoyed a day in the sunshine at the Jr/Sr High School on Thursday. Mr. DeLyser and Mrs. Lembaris, our MES PE teachers, coordinated track and field events and other fun competitions for the day. The day ended with a cool-down spray from the fire truck thanks to Mr. Andy Brooks. Photos to come.
Summer Mini Camps!!!
Ask me about my Knight Note!
Grace in Mrs. Hendricks' class earned a Knight Note for being responsible in the cafeteria. She made sure a mess was cleaned up before lining up. Way to go, Grace!

School Attendance Information
School attendance and academic achievements are closely related; excessive absenteeism may result in poor academic performance. Regular school attendance is essential to successful learning. Chronic absenteeism is defined by New York State as excused and unexcused absences equaling 10% or more of enrolled school days.
Sometimes, the number of days that a student has been absent accumulates without parents realizing how many days have been missed. Certainly your child should not be in school when he/she is ill.
New York State tracks student attendance at school. If your child is determined to meet the threshold of being "chronically absent", you will receive communication from the school in order to help support your child's attendance.
Marion Elementary School Email Address
We now have an email address that you can use to contact the Main Office at Marion Elementary School. That address is MESOffice@marioncs.org.
This email should be used for the following purposes:
- Attendance - let us know when you child is going to be out and why. This can be used as a written excuse as well as prevent those annoying attendance calls!
- Early pick ups - let us know when you are picking up your child early for an appointment!
- Dismissal changes - let us know when you want your student called to the office for pick up instead of getting on a bus!
- General Questions - we can quickly answer general questions for you or forward your email to the appropriate person if we don't know the answer!
These emails are automatically received by both ladies in the office so in the event that one is absent on a given day, you can be assured that someone gets your message!
NOTE: We will always reply to let you know your email was received. If you are contacting us late in the school day regarding a time sensitive dismissal arrangement and you do not receive a reply, please call the school to make sure your email was seen!
23-24 School Year Meals
We are pleased to announce that beginning Wednesday November 1, 2023, all students attending Marion Central School may receive one regular school breakfast and one regular school lunch per day at no cost to your household.
Students are able to purchase snacks in the cafeteria during their lunchtime as well. Ice cream, chips, oatmeal cream pies, and fruit roll-ups are some of the options available. Snacks range in price from $0.25 to $1.00. If you plan to send money with your child to purchase a snack, please send it in a sealed envelope that is labeled with your child's first and last name and the amount in the envelope.
Technology Support
The Technology Department will be continuing to support the MCS community as much as possible. To facilitate communication for students and families to support a helpdesk phone line (315-926-2410) and email helpdesk@marioncs.org have been set up. Email is the preferred method of communication, but voice messages can also be left at the direct phone line. When emailing or calling, please provide as much detail about your problem or question as you can, the student’s name and grade, and your contact information. The technology team is responding as quickly as possible to messages, but working with limited staff and access. We appreciate your patience!
