Open House, Monday, August 19

Preschool and Kindergarten families:

9 - 9:45 am visit classrooms and enjoy popsicles on the playground


Grades 1-5: Visit your classroom based on your assigned time by last name.

Child's last name begins with A - H, visit between 11:00 and 11:30 am

Child's last name begins with I - R, visit between 12:00 and 12:30 pm

Child last name begins with S - Z, visit between 1:00 and 1:30 pm

Remind App for Communication

Teacher and school communication will come through the Remind app. Download the app before Open House.

A Message from Nurse Crystal Anderson

If your child takes medication at school, you must submit a Medication Authorization Form., available online in English and Spanish, or you can get a paper copy in the clinic at Open House. We cannot give medication without this form on file for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

Arrival and Dismissal Information

Arrival Information

  • School starts on Wednesday, August 21.
  • Instructional hours are 7:55 am - 2:25 pm.
  • Drop off begins at 7:40 am. Do not drop off children before 7:40 am as there will be no staff supervision.
  • Due to limited parking, families can drop off students but cannot walk them into school. There will be many staff members to help your children get inside!

Dismissal Information

  • Please share your family's dismissal information for each day of the week with your child's teacher at Open House or sometime before the first day of school.
  • There will be delays the first few days of school as we safely dismiss nearly 800 students. We appreciate your patience.
  • If you need to change the dismissal plan, email the office by 12:00 pm each day at MountainViewOAs@k12albemarle.org

Bus Transportation

If your family qualifies for school bus transportation, bus stop information is already posted in Parent Portal and you should have received a text message from the Transportation Department. Bus drivers will call families to introduce themselves by Monday, August 19. If you have any questions, call the Transportation Department (434-973-7805) or the Mountain View office (434-293-7455.) Parent resources are available on the Bus Transportation website.

Important Message from Transportation

Caregivers picking up students who require supervision at bus stops MUST be prepared to show ID or their ACPS ID tag (provided at Open House.) There are no expectations.

Car and Backpack Tags

At Open House, you will receive your family's updated Car Rider hanging vehicle tags, bus ids, and student backpack tags. Please use these each day for pickup if you are driving your child.
