The Daley Middle School is offering an opportunity for your child to take part in a selection of unique enrichment programs during the February school vacation week.
The programs will be held from 7:20 - 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21. The school will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Students will have an opportunity to participate in enrichment programs including Art, Board Games, Volleyball, Coding and Video Game Design, Basketball, Card Games, Readers' Theater, and Creative Writing.
All students who attend the programs will be served a snack and lunch each day.
We expect great interest in this program and have a limited number of spaces available.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stephen Daly at sdaly@lowell.k.12.ma.us.
*Note: transportation is not provided. Students must be picked up or walk home if within walkable distance.
Board Games
Let’s have some fun playing board games! Come play the Game of Life, and determine what is destined for you! We will play Connect 4, Uno, WAR, Spoons, Jenga, puzzles and much more!
Volleyball
The volleyball program will give students an opportunity to develop and enhance their volleyball skills through engaging drills and mock games. Students will be able to strengthen their technique, teamwork, and game strategy while enjoying a fun and supportive environment.
Coding and Video Game Design
Coding and video game design is an exciting program where students can combine fun and learning by creating their own video games as well as playing their personal ones. Participants will explore coding, game design and storytelling while working on projects that reflect their creativity! Members will have the opportunity to develop valuable tech and problem-solving skills as well as strengthen their decision making and multitasking abilities in a collaborative and fun environment.
Basketball
We will be learning and practicing all aspects of basketball including shooting, dribbling, rebounding, passing, individual defense and team defense. We will incorporate individual and team games to keep it fun and enjoyable while developing the skills needed to become a better basketball player.
Card Games
Come learn how to play some of the classic, strategic card games such as Crazy 8s, Kings' Corners, War, Go Fish, and Uno. Students will use real playing cards to learn and play classic card games. Playing card games improves students' mental math skills, algebraic thinking skills, logic skills, and strategic thinking skills. It also reinforces cooperative learning skills and good sportsmanship.
Art
Join us during the February break and get creative. Students will use their creative talents to produce imaginative works of Art. Through both structured, guided activities and independent art choices.
Readers' Theater
In this club, students will have opportunities to show off their acting skills, acting out roles in several different short plays on a variety of topics. Topics include twisted fairy tales, historical fiction, and informational plays on various time periods in American history. Students will be reading, acting in, and discussing a different play each day, and will be utilizing their artistic skills to make small props for the play for that day.
Creative Writing
In this club, students will be writing fantasy, historical fiction, science fiction, and mystery as they explore the artwork and premises left behind by Harris Burdick. They will be writing at least three short stories over the course of the club on different topics and genres and will have a chance to explore adding dialogue, emotions, and sensory details into their writing. We will also be reading examples of authors such as Kate DiCamillo, Lois Lowry, and Walter Dean Myers as they attempted to write their own stories going along with the same premises we will be using!

Where is the bus? Check the spreadsheet!
The Lowell Public Schools Transportation Department has added a live spreadsheet to its webpage that indicates in the AM or PM if a school bus (grades K-8) is running late and by how long. Check it out today: https://www.lowell.k12.ma.us/Page/5990
